Hotel Tamilnadu Coonoor — Hotel in Tamil Nadu

Alighting at the Coonoor Bus Stop, I took a hired auto rickshaw for Rs.80 to this hotel which was located about 2 kms inside along the main road. The location, the building per se, ambiance etc was agreeable. As it was off season, I got a double room in the 1st floor for Rs.2800 GST included with a complimentary breakfast. Spacious room with a large WC bath attached with heater for hot water. Floor boasted of timber tiles to keep your soles warm. Telly didn't work, so one could peacefully look out of the large glass paneled bay window onto a sea of soothing greenery. Somewhere in the distance a shuttle train chugged past rattling the mountain side. The restaurant was large with upright wooden chairs & tables, though at this off season, it looked forlorn for customers. Off-season and almost zero occuppancy factor didn't offer much option for me to select, so I had to settle for a dish of fresh mixed veg curry & chappathis for dinner. The complimentary b/f consisted of a plate of idlis or a plate of dosas to wash it down with coffee or tea. The bf though sparsely was hot & tasty indeed.The staff were courteous, especially Manikantan from the restaurant and Mr Anthony, the Manager. Tips: Be careful while taking the first flight of stairs to upper floors, as there is no grab rail. If you are a backpacker on foot, go to the nearest T-juction for a return auto rickshaw to go back to the Coonoor Rly stn/Bus Stop for just 20...

Earlier called as MGM hillworth resort. Now TTDC Coonoor or Hotel Tamilnadu Coonoor. Located in the Ooty Gundulupet main highway and close to Wellington bus stop. Few rooms with adequate parking. No airconditioner because of its location. No lift or elevator, so if you are aged think twice before booking. Views are good from the rooms ( suite and normal). But rooms needs maintenance ( locks, taps, windows , lights everything). I think they are going to add new building and that time planning for maintenance.At present a small park for kids exist and that may vanish when they add new building. Staff are friendly. Since even basic amenities are lacking and no proper support from their higher up they will be helpless. Only the temporary contract work force manage the entire show and no permanent staff are even visible. Water scarcity may arise due to hill station and hence better to keep the room buckets filled and keep your own water bottles. Automatic door closure is a menace and if you are with kids be cautious as it may get locked with wind force. Very limited menu in restaurant but has a bar. If you are budget conscious and want to reach easily to main attractions in Coonoor, then go for this keeping...

Room was good and clean.

Food is good for lunch and dinner but bit expensive and you will get a complementary morning food.

Services from working people was really good and they will take care of you and share knowledge about Coonoor and Ooty.

Other than that you won't face any issues.

amenities they have in hotel Car Parking with gated. Kids playing area. Power backup for 24 hours but switching ON generator will takes 5 mins don't see this as issue. Bar with good atmosphere and prices are good when compare to other hotel bars....

Last point pricing for rooms , here quite expensive but place was safe to stay along...
