I got to experience only the front desk of the hotel, so my review pertains to only the front desk people and the manager and not the hotel itself. I booked a room in Ranga Residency through Goibibo and reached the hotel at 10:40 in the night. On that day I had travelled close to 500 kms from Bangalore to Chennai and then finally to this hotel in Chengalpattu only to hear from them that there were no vacant rooms.
Now their justification was that they had informed Goibibo that there were no more rooms available and to not take anymore bookings and it was Goibibo's fault that they let me book and sent a confirmation. This made sense but they also wanted me to reach out to Goibibo's customer care and check with them on the next steps. While I (being super tired at 11:30 in the night) was on a call with them trying to figure out the next steps, the hotel staff didn't do anything from their end to resolve this and on top of it they were arguing with my friend who was going to stay with me that they are not at fault.
Totally unfriendly people for an hospitality industry and when asked some delicate questions, they just didn't open their mouth. With a population of 130 crores in our country, places like Ranga Residency will continue to get customers and will have full bookings from time to time. But they can never establish a loyal customer or a client base. So if you are one of those that expects a quality stay, don't go there.
And so what did I do that night finally? I paid an additional Rs.400 and booked a room in Fairfield by Marriott in Mahindra World City and enjoyed...
Read moreFirst of all ₹3,500 per room (strictly only 2 people per room) per 22 hours is too much. The location is not all that good, parking is limited. Maybe 4 to 5 cars can be parked comfortably.
Rooms were clean, towels not so good because one was stainedand the other was torn, bedsheets and pillows were clean,no complaints. Two 500 ml bottles are complementary, a single soap, shampoo and oil was provided per room. No dental kits.
Extra bed is ₹952, they only give a cheap mattress to be put on the floor, a pillow, a blanket and bedspread. Again too expensive. And the billing counter was in confusion while check out. They took some time.
Bathroom has a very damp odour, the curtain separating the bath area and the toilet was too dirty. Cleanliness wise okay otherwise. The mini fridge did not work, the safe (locker) did not work. Toilet paper roll was missing too but they brought it after we asked. TV remotes also were missing again we asked and they gave it after 20 mins of searching. In one of the rooms we had taken, even the bathroom tap was malfunctioning. Our stay was short so we did not complain.
This is a place which has great potential to be perfect in all sense, if only the cleanliness and maintenance of bathrooms, towels and appliances were kept up. Sadly that is not the case. In the end it all feels too expensive.
A hotel charging this much money for an area like Chengalpattu should be working much better, maintaing the rooms much better. It is...
Read moreHad been to the restaurant several times Pros : This is the only place that's less crowded , very clean . Tasty Breakfast at (Breakfast on the house ) Navarasa Vegetarian restaurant in the ground floor . Non-vegetarian restaurant is in the fourth floor . We had booked a room for overnight stay . Beds are super comfy with quality pillows and linen . So too is the rest room .The lady at the Reception was courteous and helpful . Staff are very friendly and helpful . I'm surprised at the low level of footfalls in the restaurant despite holidays .
Cons: Tariff is definitely on the higher side close to 4200/ - the rooms aren't big either . There isn't designated parking slots for guests who hold Room reservations . They should have valet parking atleast during weekends and holidays .
Earlier review Five Years ago , 2016 Four stars for cleanliness and decor alone .. Rest rooms are super clean and odourless .. I had been to the Navarasa restaurant for evening tiffin , and the food was a bit disappointing .. when you charge more , on par with premium restaurants in Chennai , you need to ensure quality , authenticity and good taste to go with it .. Chapati was like thick appalam , toasted in oil , very crispy .. with little care and supervision the minor glitches can be sorted...
