Wonderful experience
Wonderful experience.
Went to Varanasi for a short trip with the family. Stayed here at HHI. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Room service was excellent. The food was nice and the live music in the lobby (evening) was beautiful. All staff were polite and helpful.
The hotel is a bit dated, especially the bathrooms without an exhaust fan are a bit of an inconvenience (not as bad as it sounds though). And lastly, for the boys at the front desk (female staff, not sure what her name was, had a smile on her face) :...
Read moreHere’s how our stay went at the hotel. I had booked our (group of 5 people and 3 rooms for 3 nights) stay well in advance and had specifically asked for a large bed in each room. Being an MMT Black Platinum member comes with the perk of complementary upgrades. Upon check in I was shown small twin bedded rooms. I was also freely educated by the front desk staff about the policies of the hotel which doesn’t guarantee guest requests. Later we got the correct rooms and large beds after I lost my cool. There is no running hot water in the bath. If you want to shower please call the maintainance at least half an hour in prior and there will be some luke warm water available to you. There is a fixture for clothesline but it is broken. Staff not even aware of how it functions. The shower curtains are too short and water falls to the floor every time you shower inside the tub. The privacy in the bathroom in room 402 is not upto the mark. The lining on the glass wall between the bathroom and the bedroom is translucent and anyone using the washroom can be clearly seen from the bedroom. Was a little embarrassing for my mother and me so when one had to use the bathroom the other stepped out of the room. The towels are all old and rough. It needs to be changed. We gave out clothes for laundry and I must say that it was is a better condition before it was given for the same. There was no fragrance, stains remained, ironing wasn’t done and the worse was that it had small hairs on it. Picture attached. The hotel doesn’t have earbuds available. We had to make a trip to the chemists for it. I went to the restaurant early in the morning to grab a shot of espresso before I went to the ghats to meet a pandit for the pujas. Upon being asked, I told the supervisor that I will be back for breakfast by 10am. He informed me that if I am willing to sit at the restaurant from 7am till 10:30am, I will be served as much coffee as I want. But if I was going to have breakfast later, then I will have to pay for the single shot of espresso that I was going to have right then. I couldn’t reason with him anymore. The cocky fellow even kept a bill printed which I signed for. The next day at night we went to the restaurant at 10:10pm, ordered food and two beers to have until the food arrived. The food came in at 10:30pm and by 10:35pm when we were in the midst of dinner both the AC and the lights of the restaurant were switched off by the servers. We were shocked and the other lady in the group refused to eat and was about to walk away when they turned it back on for us. We ate our dinner fast and once they cleared our plates, they brought in the green salad which we had ordered to be served with our meals. Usually at big hotels green salad is served complementary, but here it is charged at par with the veg dishes at ₹300 per plate (of sliced cucumber, carrot, radish and tomato, with green chilli and lemon). So now when we ask them to void it since they brought it after our meal was done, they refuse that and say that they could pack it for us. I asked for room cleaning on the last night of our stay (I know that whoever has cleaned each room until then has been tipped by us). The cleaner had gutka in his mouth, answered his phone while cleaning the room and spoke loudly to our dismay. He told us that the bed-sheet which he has brought along has a hole so would we prefer it to be under the pillow or near our feet so that we can’t see it. We asked for another sheet and he said that all were torn. Later while he was leaving, he asked to be paid for his services. We were left with no choice, but to tip him for his shoddy work. After we spoke to the General Manager of the hotel who assured us that action will be taken, we were served hot tea (which was really refreshing) in our room after the coffee incident, and the espresso was not charged. Also he offered us late check out in one room till 4pm, but to be fair it was guaranteed to me by MMT for being a Black Platinum member. I would not be endorsing or staying at this...
Read moreMy husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and I had visited this hotel on 21st Feb 2018 with the intention of seeking blessings from temples nearby as we had recently gotten married. So much so for that. On 22 Feb I faced a situation which i would not want any wife to see her husband in. We had a checked in late on 21st night so lets start from there. Day 1 - 21st Feb 2018: Checked in and were received very uninterestedly by the guy at the front desk. When we asked him as to who would collect out luggage from the car, he pointed to the door. Upon asking him 2 more times he told us that the guard would do it but didn't bother to tell the guard to do so (I think that is a part of his duty but anyways considering that he may be tired and that we were checking in late we went and told the guard ourselves and got it done). Once settled in our rooms (which i will get back to) we ordered dinner which to be honest tasted funny but since we were tired after a nearly 12 hour road journey we ignored it and ate it (our mistake, soon to be regretted) Coming to the rooms, our room was okay but the one my in laws were in was in a fairly bad state. Seepage, fungus and cob webs were found in places in the room that they had got. Day 2 - 22nd Feb 2018 Woke up early and went to shiv temple upon returning my husband and i decided to have breakfast at the HHI hotel. The bread was stale and talk about poor management, non of the dishes were named! I had to ask the staff member to do so (Lets give him credit that he did so in a bit). Coming to the rest of the dishes, The idly I am sure was stale too and half cooked! I cooked taste what seemed like rice granules in it. The sambar was too tangy as well. The pancakes (atleast that is what i think they were considering they weren't named) were bland. I had barely a bite of each and refused to eat anything ahead. Unfortunately my husband ignored that and ate more things like their upma and all. We headed on to our room for a quick nap. About a few hours later my husband woke up complaining about stomach ache and shortly after which started a nightmare. He puked about 8 times. Starting off with the sambar coming out. After which he kept complaining that his stomach was going into a knot and that he was having trouble breathing. Following this his fingers started twitching and went into this weird state which was painful for him. He couldn't breathe and hence i had to perform CPR. We called for a wheel chair to rush him to the hospital (that came quickly) but the guy who got it was like a robot! He didn't even bother helping us to move my husband into the chair seeing that he could barely move but my mother in law and i managed to do so. While entering the lift the idiot (sorry for my language) did not bother seeing how he was taking my husband into the lift and jammed his foot on the lift wall!!! Luckily we got him to the hospital on time, turns out he had severe food poisoning which led to repeated vomiting and hence leading to calcium and other things drop in his body thus leading to the twitching and pain. Earlier in the day when we asked for tea in the middle at the hotel they served us tea made from milk powder in a thermos! I believe this milk powder thing is only when you make it yourself in the room and not when you order it from their restaurant! All in all pathetic experience. I highly recommend to...
