I booked this hotel through opensky for approx Rs 7000 for two nights. The picture on website show are exact same as hotel however angles are so smart that super small rooms look big. I have booked it for 3 adults and 1 kid, however the rooms are so small that it cannot accommodate the extra bed. When I asked for upgrade the said you have to pay 1200 per night extra. If they don’t have space to accommodate the people in the normal rooms they should have not allowed us to book the smaller room, instead of taking booking and then telling that you need to pay extra to get accommodate comfortably .||Than we asked for food and they have no option for al-cart. You have to order per person wise. I havn’t seen this kind of arrangement in any hotel till now. You have to pay person so even if want to eat 1 roti it will be charged as complete meal . ||Than I want them to serve the food in the room where I can eat comfortably and they denied that as well. As per them they don’t have a policy to serve food in room when they have already served the tea and maggie in the room just few minutes back and their website also says Room service available. I have requested a lot however they were adamant and want us to come down to there restaurant which is office + seating space + restaurant all in one. .||We didn’t eat the food and left the hotel within 1 hour of checking in. The hotel owner was really nice man as he was smiling throughout and politely denying all the requests. ||Location: When we booked the hotel no one on the taxi stand was aware where exactly the hotel is. Thanks to google that we reached to the hotel. Its almost 6 -7 Km away from the main mussorie road. Even after reaching there is a kaccha road which you have to take which is again 500 -700 meter. When we reached there it was raining and that 500 meter road is all full of muddy puddles, hole, pits with dirty water. While coming back we have to walk back with three big suitcase, a senior citizen and a kid from that place to main road, crossing all the dirty and broken road as the cab driver was not able to locate us.||I have been to resorts in remote jungle location, however they are good big resorts with good arrangements. Mid wood breeze is a remote place and a very scary location so better not to go specially if you are with family. ||Rooms: It has only 4 rooms and a scary/ risky staircase to reach on the top level. 3 out of 4 rooms are only good to accommodate 2 people. As it was raining the lobby in front of the room is full of water and it was risky to walk on that tiled wet floor. If you slip you will land straight in the jungle as its surrounded by big trees.||There is no open space to sit and relax. They just have some concrete floor around the hotel and no garden area. I am not sure the picture of the lady sitting in garden is of which place. ||It was the worst experience ever in my life and spoiled my vacation completely Thank god what we have decided to move out of this place immediately else we would have been stuck in the scary place with no help no hospitality.||||Pros : The...
Read moreAn executive studio apartment in the hills of Dehradun; seems an impossible ask, right? Wrong. Midwood Breeze offers its guest exactly that – a perfect blend of modern facilities in a rural idyll, and staffed by the most welcoming, attentive, kind people too.|Hidden away on a tiny little track just off the Dehradun to Mussoorie road, my driver took a while to find it, but I’d taken a cab from Chandigarh to be here. No doubt a local driver picking up from Dehradun Airport would have found it more quickly, but it did not matter, because it was more than worth the wait. |I was shown up to a jewel of a studio; spacious, with separate and well-furnished sleeping and living quarters, and a wet room. The apartment comes with its own WiFi router too so even here in the hills there’s plenty of connectivity to let people know you’ve arrived. |With triple aspect floor-to-ceiling windows, the space is flooded with natural light, and the views – trees and mountain tops bathed in cool November sun were a welcome sight each morning, and when the sun drops and with it the temperature, the apartment has two powerful heaters to keep you warm. |There’s excellent entertainment on tap too – satellite TV means all your entertainment needs are met, whether in English or Hindi, but in a space of such calm and tranquillity, you’ll want to sit on the large balcony attached, enjoy a masala tea or chai, and drink in those gorgeous vistas.|The hosts provide whatever you need – tea arrives in the morning at your bedside, and breakfast is a seemingly never-ending parade of delicious and fresh-cooked spiced potato cutlets, omelette, and toast which is whisked away and replaced the moment they feel it is not hot enough. In short, I wanted for nothing, and nothing was too much trouble for my genial hosts.|Returning from my day in Dehradun for the second night, I found a small, and most welcome, change – the duvet had been removed and replaced with a thicker, heavier one. Not at my request, but because the host noticed that the temperature was set to drop that night, and did not want me to be cold. The thoughtful gesture topped off what was a perfect stay in a magical place. Whether you are in Dehradun for work or pleasure, this place is a must-book if available. I wish I had the time to avail of all that was offered, but I had to leave all too soon. I know this, though - I...
Read moreAway from Dehradun's chaos and Mussorie's tourist jams, yet in close proximity to both, this is a destination for the evolved traveller. First, it's a home-stay; so don't expect a hotel's services. Two floors and three rooms, so small it is. Mind the stairs though; tricky if you are short sighted or have kids in tow. Best if you are a mature couple, or a footloose youngster, interested in just the environment. There's plenty of that. Rohit the ever present host has designed Midwood Breeze to literally bring in the woods indoors with floor to ceiling glass walls. That's what I loved. Of course, there are some shortcomings: the chef needs to hone up his skills; the bathroom plumbing could do with some fine tuning and the housekeeping could learn a few techniques from a professional. But if you love the woods, you would love this place. Tips: if a couple, choose the large room on the first floor with its sunny sit out;if single, choose the upper floor second room where you will have the sun streaming in all day. Not recommended for children, though the three in-house dogs look friendly enough. Of course, you cannot find a better host than Rohit anywhere! May he always remain the...
