As many people have indicated here, the place is run by a group of really nice, enthusiastic, cheerful and welcoming guys eager to make you comfortable. The room was comfortable though a few snags here and there like a thin stream in the wash basin and or the bathroom lock hanging on its last nail. We didn't complain as for is it wasn't a major issue. These would possibly have been rectified if we had complained. The entire floor was carpeted, geyser worked well, there was running water and electricity throughout the time we were there and the blankets were warm. For a cold place these are the most important and were taken care of by them. I stayed in the basement room and I felt that a little more privacy would have been good. Frankly there is no need for windows facing the corridor and the curtains are thin sheer curtains. The door also has completely transparent glads panes and the curtain is outside the door. So someone would have a full view of the room when they get between the curtain and the door even when it is closed. At least as a temporary measure the door glasses should be made opaque with paper or something. Further I do think the corridor facing windows should be replaced with opaque boards or at least thicker curtains need to be provided. Rooms are booked with a 4 meal plan - breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. This is kind of necessary since options outside are less. Once again food is made and served enthusiastically and without any shortages. On the checkout day we had asked for an early breakfast. Not only did they oblige but since market had opened late that day for them to get supplies for breakfast they made an impromptu alternate breakfast. The taste of all meals was fine but a little refinement in cooking skills would have made it really wonderful. Pricewise it is quite competitive to other homestays in the place. Location wise I don't think there would be any difference between any of the homestays in lepcha jagat as the entire place is just one location of maybe less than 200m stretch. It's over all a really good place that should rank high on people's list of stay options in Lepcha. A little more effort and attention to detail from the homestays side should make this the really homely and the best.

**Review of Maratika Homestay, Lepchagat** My recent stay at **Maratika Homestay** in the serene village of Lepchagat, near Darjeeling, was nothing short of magical. Nestled amid lush greenery, this homestay is a perfect retreat for travelers seeking peace, warmth. **Location & Ambience** Lepchagat itself is a hidden gem, far from the bustle of crowded hill stations. Maratika Homestay sits in the heart of this tranquility, surrounded by vibrant gardens and pine forests. Waking up to mist-kissed mornings and the melody of birds. Magical! **Hospitality** The hosts, Dechen and others are the soul of this homestay. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made me feel like family. **Rooms & Amenities** The rooms are cozy, clean, and thoughtfully decorated with traditional wooden accents. My room had large windows framing the mountains, creating a picturesque backdrop. Despite the rustic charm, modern comforts like hot water, reliable Wi-Fi, and snug blankets were provided, ensuring a comfortable stay even in the cool weather. **Food** The homemade meals were a highlight! Every dish, prepared with fresh local ingredients, was bursting with flavor. Maratika Homestay is more than just a place to stay—it’s an invitation to slow down and connect with nature and culture. Whether you’re a solo traveler, couple, or family, this homestay offers a heartfelt escape. I left with cherished memories and a promise to return.

View from rooms window is awesome. They offered good services. Food quality was good. Geyser is working and 24/7 hot water supply was there. Whenever we have requested for hot drinking water they have provided. Just that inside room there is only 1 plug point for 4 bed bedroom. But otherwise we were overwhelmed with there hospitality. Fully recommend to all to stay at this homestay. They have a good wi fi service as well.

Maritika Homestay is located in a peaceful ambiance. The views are soothing, with a 2 minute walk from the Sunrise View Point, if the weather is clear one can easily spot the peaks of Kanchenjunga and adjacent mountains. The staff behaviour is polite and extremely humble. The food is homemade, simple and basic. The rooms are nicely furnished with all the winter related amenities working properly and fine. The rates of the rooms are cheap...
