Rambler's Nesting Homestay — Hotel in West Bengal

Rambler's Nesting is a great homestay in Dali - about 3-4 km away from Darjeeling Mall. I stayed here for 2 nights in Aug 2021. The homestay is away from the hustle and bustle of the city which I liked. The owners - Mr and Mrs Pradhan are very affable and always helpful. Whatever we needed, they tried their best to provide. Since we are early risers, Mr Pradhan made sure that we get tea/coffee at around 6-6:15 AM. Mrs Pradhan is a wonderful cook and makes awesome pickles. Mr. Pradhan is very particular about cleanliness and follows guidelines concerning Covid-19. Mrs Pradhan is helped by Mrs Shabnam who is also very friendly and helpful. Mrs Shabnam showed us the walking road to Darjeeling. It took us around 35-40 mins to reach Darjeeling Mall by walk. It is almost a flat road except the initial 200 m. Pros:

1. Kanchendzonga is visible from the rooms and from the terrace as well.
2. Very clean accommodation
3. Great food
4. Very friendly and accommodating owners.
5. Darjeeling main town is accessible either by foot (3-4 km) or by shared jeep from Dali syndicate. This may not seem to be a plus for many tourists.
6. Hi-speed wifi present across the property. Airtel (good mobile and good internet) and Bsnl (moderate mobile and weak internet) connection present. Can't vouch for other mobile networks.
7. No running water or electricity issues during the stay of my visit. The geyser worked absolutely fine. There's a large TV (~ 32 inches Sony) but not used by us.
8. Big spacious room with large glass windows.
9. Electric kettle, tea and coffee available in the room.
10. Towels are provided on request.
11. There are multiple electric points to charge accessories.
12. There are plants and trees around this property and various birds tend to visit.
13. The prices charged for food is very economical. Cons:
14. One has to walk uphill about 150-200 m from the Dali syndicate (located on the main road connecting Siliguri-Darjeeling) to reach the homestay. This can be troubling for people with mobility issues. There is however another road that reaches the backyard of the house and the following walk is just about 20 m downhill.
15. I personally would have preferred a slightly larger bathroom and an exclusive balcony.
16. The terrace is a beautiful place with wooden sitting arrangements in place. However, the roof is a bit slippery. One should be cautious while walking...

The homestay itself was cozy, clean, and well-maintained. The rooms were comfortable and provided all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. The location of the homestay offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, adding to the overall charm of the experience.

Darjeeling is known as the Queen of the hills. Situated in West Bengal it is a overnight journey by train or one hour fifteen minutes flight away from Kolkata.The nearest rail station is New Jalpaigure or NJP and the nearest airport is Bagdogra.|Darjeeling is about 68 km from NJP or the Airport. You may take a full taxi or go to the nearest city Siliguri and take a shared taxi for Darjeeling. A full taxi costs around Rs.2500 for one way trip.|There are many hotels and home stays in Darjeeling. This time me and my wife stayed atu Ramblers Nesting Home Stay situated about four KM from the central attraction The Mall or Chourasta. The place is situated on top of a hill and during clear weathers you can see the Himaylayan range from your window.|The place is run by Mr.Pradhan and family. They are very nice people and it is a pleasure to be among them. Mr.Pradhan is always ready to be of service be it an extra blanket or a bed warmer.|There are two double bedded and a four bedded rooms.All the rooms have most amenities like free WiFi quite fast, flat TV,Gyser,blankets.|They also provide home cooked both vegetarian and non vegetarian foods at a reasonable price. To give an idea breakfast costs Rs.80 per head and meals Rs.200 per head.|This is my first ever stay at a home stay and it is a pleasant one. I strongly recommend this home stay to everyone.|There is only one word of caution.As the place is situated quite a bit up a hill senior people would have problem going up and down.|You are advised to request Mr.Pradhan for arranging a vehicle which would drop you on a motorable road above the place and then there is no problem going down a few steps to the fabulous Home Stay.|A bit of advise for Mr.Pradhan. for making a beautiful place better.|1) please provide a powerful bulb in the washroom to facilitate saving.|2)To provide an under bed sheet for the blankets which may be changed every time so you do not have a feeling of using a blanket already used by someone else.|3) To provide a small bedside table for all the beds to keep your things o .|4) To provide towels even if it may...
