Excellent customer service and food but not the place if you are hoping to get some uninterrupted sleep
Location The hotel is located several blocks off the main street and is surrounded by tall trees, plant growth, and Rice fields. The hotel has several bikes to borrow and you can easily ride the back roads to see the beautiful rice fields and village homes. Each hotel village is secluded and has their own theme.
Food See also photos. Being that we had a larger party and were here for 7 days we tried pretty much everything on the menu (except for the international cuisine). Everything was delicious. The breakfast breads were always very fresh (they are made on site). We did notice that the quality of the dishes could differ a bit from day to day, most likely due to the changing of staff. The meals were quite reasonable for a hotel. Generally most main meals were around 12,000 rupiahs.
Staff All the staff members were amazing and they all really save this from being a worse review. Everyone was extremely nice and there is usually one person around with good English. The hotel definitely excels at pleasing the customers.
Ambiance and Environment Unfortunately this is the one area that I felt the hotel fell a bit flat. We had quite a few minor issues with our room that could have been fixed. To name a few Though the decor is a bit dated it still works as it could be considered rustic (see pictures) (minor for me a bit more of an issue for my wife). The doors, walls, furniture etc were in a bit of disrepair or poorly repaired (see image) (minor) the international electrical plug in our room didn't work (very minor as I had an adapter and they loaned me one) The tea kettles to boil water didn't actually boil the water (very minor as they informed us the bottled water in the room was from a large bottle) The door locks all seemed to stick a bit and were a bit annoying to lock, unlock, and remove you key when finished (very minor) The refrigerator leaked a lot of water so there was always a pool of water at the bottom of the refrigerator (very minor). The air conditioner in our room seemed to only slightly work getting the room barely cool enough (minor) The air conditioner in my sons room was stuck on a very cold temperature (very minor) No hot water. Normally this wouldn't be such a big deal except that I told the front desk about the problem every single morning over the course of the entire week. This to me was a bigger deal as I had to take a cold shower each night. (This was a big deal in my opinion as it should have been fixed after the first time I told them about it not the fourth). Roosters, lots of them. They didn't bother me but they may bother others (minor) Megaphone parked next door and pointed at the hotel. After the fourth day I found the call to prayers soothing and peaceful. Unfortunately this was so loud as to ensure this was not possible. Even though the Mosque is a good distance down the road there is a megaphone situated about 30 meters away and pointed directly at the hotel and must be set at it's highest setting. Now according to the welcome guide there is a call to prayer 5 times a day starting at 4:00am..... and boy is it LOUD even with ear plugs so it ceases to be the soothing musical prayer and becomes an ear piercing alarm clock that can run for hours (prayer + talking + readings). Now to be fair we were there during Ramadan so we may have heard more talking over the loud speaker than most months. This unfortunately was a big detractor for me as it happened at all times of the night. I know I am the outsider here and I completely respect the religious needs of the neighbors and the village but if you don't want to get disruptive sleep this may not be the...
Read moreAbseloutly love this place! The location is out of Yogyakarta, about 13km from the city. It really worth the trip as you really feel living in original Yogya house. I'll try my best to describe it.
The hotel consist of couple of compounds of 2 to 5 rooms. In total they have 23 rooms. Most of it can be rented individually, but there are 3 compunds which are private villas of 3 to 4 rooms with their own pool. The pool is small, only 5 meters long and 2 meters wide, with 1.5 meter deep. Each compound has its own living room where you can sit and spend time chit chat.
The lobby wooden house with sofa and cafe attached. It is also connected with restaurant for breakfast.
The rooms. Almost all compounds are original Yogya traditional house. High cieling without attic, doors and windows are using old style lock, the bed is exotic, not sound proof like modern hotel rooms. They provide anti mosquito spray and ear plug in case you have issue with insects and sound from outside. I personally did not have issue with the sound in the evening. There are noises but not constant.
Bath room is a modified area. Very spacious, with some rooms have semi out door bath room. Exotic.
The place also has gym equipment. Unfortunately some equipment are aged but still fully useable. And the gym is open air as it is located in a gazebo, without wall. Cool.
The place is suitable for couple trip or family/group stay. Better to call the place before you book...
Read moreI stayed in d’Omah Hotel from Monday, 27 to Wednesday, 29 June 2021 and booked two villas both across from each other with the swimming pool in between. I booked this hotel thinking that the facilities were top-notched, the reviews were promising, and the management would be very hospitable.
Unfortunately, my three-day stay along with my family members wasn’t as pleasant as the reviews. Some facilities in the rooms including the bathroom were a disappointment. The toilet won’t flush, the water was leaking from the showers, the floor in the rooms were dusty and dirty as if it hasn’t been swept.
We also noticed that the rooms lacked cleanliness as there were still trash inside the bins from previous guests, there were spider webs on the corners of the walls too. I immediately requested a change in bed covers and sheets that evening upon settling in the rooms.
As we were enjoying the poolside, the pool equipment and furniture were not well taken care of; the day beds were dirty and were not properly zipped, the floaty was also very dirty and is not well-maintained.
The villa’s reputable name and owner really underwhelmed us with the low maintenance of facility and cleanliness it had in the rooms and throughout the hotel vicinity. We hope that these complaints be taken into account by d'Omah Hotel management and events like the above will not happen again...
