⚠️ Warning to Fellow Travelers: If you're planning a trip to Batam, I strongly advise avoiding Hapdesko Homestay to prevent a disappointing and stressful holiday experience. What happened to us was unacceptable and could easily happen to others.
What I Didn't Like: There was a booking issue—the system was overbooked, and we were moved to a worker’s room instead of the room we originally reserved.
The host handled the situation poorly, showing a bad attitude and refusing to refund us even though the promised room was unavailable.
The host was dishonest, claiming it was a room exchange when it was clearly a downgrade due to overbooking.
The solution offered was unreasonable and unprofessional—we were asked to accept a refund via bank transfer to a Batam bank account, which is impractical for tourists who don’t have local accounts.
The host also did not keep his promise regarding the refund or compensation method. When we raised the issue, the host refused to take responsibility, and instead claimed that an “upper management” did not allow refunds. We later found out that this so-called upper management doesn’t even exist, and when we asked for a contact number, the host refused to provide one.
Overall Experience: The experience was ruined by dishonesty, poor customer service, and unacceptable handling of the situation. As a tourist, I felt scammed and helpless.

I booked the entire 7-bedroom house, but upon arrival, I was informed by the caretaker that only 2 rooms in the house were available, and additional 1room were in another house due to overbooking. I was told I could get the full 7-bedroom house only the next day after other guests checked out.
This is completely unacceptable and a breach of trust, as the listing promised an exclusive 7-bedroom house, not scattered rooms. The property was not as advertised on Booking.com, and I had to cancel my stay entirely. Despite not staying, I was charged the full amount and denied a refund.

Read moreThis is a scam. Booking.com is also involved in this scam. Firstly, 7 of us had gone on a holiday and we booked a 5 room bungalow and a 2 room bungalow. Upon arrival the worker told us the owner had alrdy rented out our unit on room basis and only 2 rooms available that also sharing with the locals. We were shock and called booking.com. The customer service had listen to the whole story and agreed to call the host and put us on hold for 30min and hung up on us. The call was directed to Philippines and we called so many times again only to be hunged up after listening to our problem. On the other hand the host did nt agree for a refund and ask us to adjust and stay in the 2 room. No refund was offered and we had to book another hotel and burn our 3night bill.
