We stayed at the Patria Palace for eight days in December 2014 while visiting in-laws near Blitar. Both my wife and I were unwell for a couple of days each, for different reasons and so ended up spending far more time in our hotel room than we had planned.||||The room we had was the standard double room with breakfast each day included for a very cheap rate that we have booked online. It had air conditioning, bathroom with shower and hot water, fridge, TV and double bed. I didn't realise the room had hot water until the second evening, when I had a longer shower and the water eventually warmed up.||||The room was modern enough for the price, and we noticed workmen plastering and painting in a couple of different rooms near us in the evenings. It appeared that refurbishment of the rooms was being carried out in stages at that time.||||The staff were very friendly and always polite and helpful. Many were not able to speak much English, but I did not expect that they should. In any case they would greet me in English whenever I passed by and the staff on reception were always patient enough, and knew enough English that we were able to communicate our needs without any issues.||||The hotel is in a very central location and we were able to buy most of what we needed within walking distance of the hotel, or take our motorbike on a short 5 to 10 minute ride to all other parts of the town. There were also pedicabs in our street (bicycle with two-seat carriage in front) ready to take us on local short trips and were only a couple of thousand rupiah. These were particularly handy when it was raining, as the passenger section was protected by a plastic cover.||||Most days we had the hotel breakfast of traditional Indonesian food, from the buffet, which was fine for us, and then we usually went out quite early. During this time our room was always serviced and made up with fresh towels etc. Some days, we also showered to go out again in the afternoon or for an early dinner in the evening. To our pleasant surprise, on these occasions our bed was again made up and fresh towels laid out for a second time!||||When we travel we tend to only have breakfast at our hotel as we like to explore as many local eateries as possible as well as visiting family and friends. But one day, when my wife was unwell and I didn't want to leave the hotel while she slept, I ordered lunch on the balcony at the front of the hotel. I was delighted to find that the Nasi Ayam Penyet was one of the best I'd tried. The piece of chicken was so thick and juicy inside, while crispy and spicy on the outside. It was just right.||||The downside of our room were only two factors. One was that there was no window, other than tiny brick-glass squares in a row above head height. They let in light and noise, but we could not see outside at all. Given the hotel has no garden, pool area or courtyard, we had to walk out through reception to even see what the weather was like, or to get some fresh air. The other problem was the noise, but this was not the fault of the hotel. The noise was from the street vendors, of whom there were many, that set up stalls every evening along this strip selling CDs and DVDs. It seemed that they competed for business by trying to outdo each other by blasting music out on amplified stereo set-ups that at times were so loud in our room we could not hear our TV. Luckily they did not operate too late into the night, so it was not a big problem for us sleeping.||||By the way, don't buy the so-called DVDs from the street vendors. We bought a handful of movies from three different vendors. On each occasion we specifically asked them to confirm that they were DVD rips, or DVD copies, and each time will positively assured that they were. Every one of those we brought turned out to be either unreadable, VCDs, or a DVD download of the handy-cam movie in very bad quality.||||Overall the Patria Palace is a very good hotel for the price and we would recommend it highly to overseas or local...

The three things mentioned on the title have simply described Patria Palace Hotel advantages.||You'll need only 5 minutes walk from the train station, from its exit gate turn right, go straight and the hotel can be found on the left side. The Aloon-Aloon Kota Blitar, located in the city centre, is also only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There, they have countless food stalls.||||The hotel offers delicious breakfast. When staying there on 18.09.2014, they served a very delicious Nasi Pecel (this is a traditional & distinguished food from Blitar). Nasi Pecel with fresh boiled vegetables poured with peanut sauce, fried tempe, perkedel (fried mashed potatoes dipped in yolks), also Peyek Kacang was the great starting point to start my day that time.||||The executive room is the standard type with an affordable price that is IDR 300.000,- or USD 25,- per night. You can also be interested in joining the membership program by paying the registration in USD 25,- once, and 30% discount is all yours.||||The Wi-Fi connection is available in the bedroom, but the connections is super bad.||||The tourist attractions in Blitar are closed one to another. You can ride motorcycle driven by local resident (in Indonesia we call it an Ojeg) or Becak. The city offers Soekarno Library, Soekarno House, Penataran Temple, beaches called Serang, Tambak Rejo. However, you'll need to ride much far to visit those beaches.||||Blitar is very proud of the Indonesian first President. Mr. Soekarno (Bung Karno) which you can easily find his pictures in public places or even a local residence. Grab your jacket for the afternoon strolling to keep you warm from its cold wind starting late afternoon until dawn.||||Surely, Blitar...
