It was excellent because of many reasons. It doesn't mean that it has no flaw. But my experience was so far the best of all the 4-star hotels I have been to in Yogyakarta area. It was a beautifully decorated hotel. The interior was highly meant for European atmosphere, especially France. The signs on the doors, lifts, room name are all written in English and French. Lots of luxurious decorations around the hotel, making it feel rather royal. The best one is the room. Beautiful and very luxurious. The first time we're in, we were in so much awe, although I would have to disagree with the way they arange the flowers and the vases. Lol... Not that people care about that. They have a pool that is not so big, and even though it's on the rooftop, it's not an infinity pool. So, your view is basically just like many other pools. Gym is quite small. They have three tools. One of them is a treadmill that I used. The nice thing about the gym is that it's so close to the restaurant on the rooftop, so after an exercise, you can directly go for breakfast. I was there for work related occasion. So we stayed the whole two and a half days, and had full three meals and snacks. Snacks were okay. Nothing really special, but all meals were great. Combination of Indonesian and international cuisine and I would say that I was very satisfied with the taste. By the way, I'm a rather picky eater. So...The array of food choice for breakfast is also pretty great. I tried some dishes I haven't found in other hotels. Only, it will be great if they have more fruit juice choices. The counter was small, and took quite a while to have one glass. It's not a real bother though. The unfortunate thing about this hotel is its location. Not so friendsly for people without personal transportation and it's located on ring road, which is very busy at all time and rather complicated to access. Not a convenient location to walk around enjoying the neighborhood. So, I think this hotel is more suitable for work related stay or if you plan to stay more at the hotel. Staffs are great. Very friendly, and helpful. They also have a high tea tickets in the afternoon. But don't expect the kind of high tea you have in England. It's basically afternoon snacks with coffee or tea in front of the pool. But the snacks...
Read moreThis place plays very loud music at pool parties that can be heard throughout the surrounding residential neighborhood even though the pool is on the top floor of a 12 story building. Their pool parties start at around 4 or 5 in the afternoon, and go on through the night. I was staying two blocks away from the hotel, and I could hear the music as if it were in my room. I called the desk staff of Lafayette Hotel to complain about the noise on May 3, 2019 at 9:43 PM, A lady answered the phone. I asked if there was there a party going on, and could they lower the volume. She simply hung up the phone. I asked an Indonesian lady to call Lafayette, who lived in the area. The lady at Lafayette apologized and said that a pool party. The Indonesian lady who called Lafayette said, that does not mean you can't do anything about it. The music is too loud. Fifteen minutes later, and the music could still be heard throughout the neighborhood. If this is how the staff treats neighbors, then I can only imagine how they treat tenants. Not to mention, that if the music disturbed people outside of the hotel, then I can only imagine what people inside of the hotel were hearing. If you want a trashy place with lots of noise and riff-raff I still wouldn't suggest you go to Lafayette because of the prices. They want to charge 5 star rates for 1 star desk staff,...
Read moreI would NOT recommend staying at this hotel. It has very spacious rooms with high ceilings and classical touches but unfortunately, it falls short of a 4-star hotel solely due to its truly dirty bathrooms (see related video and photo). It’s not unusual for a hotel bathroom to have a little scale buildup in the shower, however, the shower heads in our room (#710) were unacceptable for a hotel at this price point, or any price point for that matter. It’s a shame because the room itself was comfortable, minus the curtain rod falling onto my head while I opened them on the first morning, though the maintenance folks quickly attended to this which was appreciated. Having read previous reviews from other guests, it appears as though I’m not the first to be disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom. Rather than sending a plate of fruit to our room as an apology, which I genuinely appreciated as a gesture, this hotel should instead spend time and effort to properly and thoroughly clean the bathrooms so that guests don’t feel uneasy to simply take a shower.
Service-wise, the front reception staff were friendly and courteous, and the doorkeepers were professional, always greeting us with a smile and kindly helped us with our luggage...
