Bondowoso Ijen Bamboo Homestay — Hotel in Java

We arrived late in Bondowoso without any booking nor any hotel name. ||And a man brought us to his homestay, we didn't know what to expect and what a good suprise! A cheap and nice bedroom with really friendly hosts. All the place is decorated with bamboo and they are really nice.||We wanted to go to Ijen the next day,they suggested us to do a tour with them and go straight then to the harbour to take the boat for Bali. We hesitated and said no because we try to travel by our own as much as we can. It was not expensive but it's just that we like to be flexible.|| If I went again I woul definitely go with them because at the end the price is not that much and it's not easy to go to Kawah Ijen by your own. Warm and friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms. Edy and his team are extremely helpful, treating you like family. They can organise an affordable and fantastic tour of both Kawa Ijen and coffee plantation/hot springs. They've taken so much care of us from helping us reporting a theft to the police to taking us to do laundry. We've visited villages with them where we've eaten with a family as well as race pigeons! I cannot recommend this place enough. Very well situated next to the bus terminal and a five minute walk to the centre. There is also a brilliant, cheap restaurant a few doors up. Spend a couple of days here because the town is lovely and clean and the countryside is beautiful surrounding. It isn't just a place to transit. Wonderful stay with incredible self giving, human, authentic and spiritual staff/people. Incredible places and landscapes discovered with the kindness of the people managing the homestay, we spent four days and it was breathtaking. The guesthouse is close to the Terminal which brings you to Surabaya, there is a Fitness Club (8000 rupiah for the day) 30m from the homestay and is perfect + super practical for training, the staff is very nice over there too. If ever you have a problem just refer to Edi, he is a guide, man, person, friend who knows everything and can show you all the secrets of his region.
