My wife and I, together with our son and his wife, stayed for two nights at this nearly a century old Puncak Pass Resort. This was the final stop of our marathon Indonesian holiday visiting 5 towns in Bali and in Java. The Puncak Pass Resort is located at 1500 metres above sea level. The weather can get very chilly in the evenings. In fact, at about 3 pm the stratus cloud begins to blow from over the mountains and soon shrouds the whole area in mist or fog..The concept of the Resort is an open layout, spread over lush green slopes. The open spaces are carefully balanced with the built up spaces so as to preserve the natural beauty of the resort and prevent overcrowding, so as to maintain the privacy of the guests staying in the resort. We were allocated a two bedroom studio suite, the Bangkung. The studio suite had a spacious living room, en suite bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen and a fireplace. It had a classic wooden style which over the years had become old and dated. The floor had become difficult to clean properly and was dirty. As it was a bit challenging to negotiate the steep and winding road leading to the restaurant located at the main building, a buggy service is available for guests. The dining area of the restaurant is spacious. Indonesian and western cuisines were served there. The service was excellent. Waiter Sasmita needs mentioning; he was so helpful and very attentive to our needs during our breakfast time at the restaurant. Although the Resort was pricey, the experience we had during our stay was unique and...
Read moreThis is my aunt's favorite hotel since years in Puncak area. I never thought that this place would be much better than i thought. The hotel is suitable for family gateway. This is an oldies but the service was very good. My family held a private wedding here and it run very well. The staffs were very helpful during the event. If only the access to get there is more convenient, maybe i will regularly stay there for the weekend. I understand that this resort is divided into 2 category: building and bungalow. So if the guests need something from the room service or housekeeping, it took a little while especially if it's raining but you cannot let the guest wait for a long time and blame it on the rain. Once i asked for a bath towel which hasn't been provided in the room when i checked in, and i have to call the hotel 3 times until the towel was given. I was a little bit upset because i was in hurry and i did called them 30 minutes before the rain. one more thing, please pay more attention on breakfast during high season or if there is a group coming. we have to wait for the foods to be restock which is not good. other than that was good. The staff on egg station did a good job by making scrambled egg fit...
Read moreThis is a hotel with some history. It's definitely not heritage per se. The location and the grounds are palatial. The larger rooms have a fireplace (so there's quite a strong scent of smoke at night) - a nice touch. The toiletries are what one would expect in a 2/3 star hotel, i.e. bring your own. The rooms are clean but the place needs a light renovation (or spring clean) esp at their price point. Breakfast is ok, but salt and pepper AND cutlery should be on the table. Again at this price point that's not too much to ask - nor is proper coffee (cappuccino is extra, but they don't tell you). I was especially unimpressed with the sales staff coming to my room unannounced in the morning (an hour before checkout) with a prospective guest. No by your leave, in fact he just said "checking out?". They were already standing on my veranda, rushing us out. There is no call for this and the hotel management should do better. I would come again if I was satisfied the hotel could get its...
