The Bungalows itself are fine. The Compound however, is still under construction. There are only five bungalows so far, three of which are facing the main road, while two face the shore, giving you a view of the unfinished construction. (mostly mud and water, trees in the background) The construction site was inoperative, so no noise, but not the most pleasant view. ||||The bathroom is nice, except there is no roof over the toilet part, and water pressure is very low, so if you plan on washing your hair it may take a while. Also there is no warm water. ||||There is no kitchen on the Compound, so breakfast comes pre packed under plastic foil. Breakfast options are fried rice, fried noodles or banana pancakes. The pancakes are quite tense, might be due to the packing. ||Wifi connectivity in our Bungalow was bad, at some times access was limited to the bathroom. ||There were some misunderstandings with a snorkeling trip we booked. The trip itself was fine, but we thought we would get handed under water cameras, so we left our own camera at home. We didn’t get any cameras, as only the guide was taking photos. No tragedy, but not perfect either. ||The manager also helped us organize a transport to Semarang when we were leaving, which sadly was of no use for us, since it would have started too late for us to catch our train. (about which we had told the manager) we were therefore forced to take a taxi to Semarang, which was quite expensive.||||A chess board and a credit card were stolen from our bungalow. Also someone went through on of our backpacks. Since the room was locked, and there were no traces, whoever took it must have had a key. After checkout, we found that a 100 euro note was missing as well. We didn’t notice this at first, because all the indonesian Rupees (in which we still had to pay for the accommodation) were still there. A police report was only filed for the credit card. Staff were very polite, but couldn’t do anything about it. After we left, we were contacted by booking.com because Karimun Lumbung had filed our visit as no show. Probably to avoid anything about items getting stolen showing up in the reviews. When we contacted the manager about it, we got no reply. Also he later wrote us, that it is not sure if our items had been stolen, practically accusing...
Read moreThe staff at Karimun Lumbung are awesome. The man who was there most of the time was very agreeable, willingly answered all our questions about nearby restaurants and leisure activities and served breakfast exactly as we ordered and on time. A big thank you to him! I also loved the table, the chairs and the sunchair in front on the terrace of the cottage.||||As to the negative points, Karimun Lumbung offers pick-up from the airport/harbour by motorbike, but they don't have helmets. Riding a motorbike without a helmet is not only unsafe, but it is also illegal.||Also, the cockroaches in the cottage made our stay unpleasant and stressful. If they at least mended the different holes, cockroaches would not be able to enter. Plus, the insecticide they provide isn't efficient: cockroaches become unconscious, then after some time they wake up and run away.||It would be nice if this hotel had hot water. Plus, water pressure in the shower wasn't always good. And the AC wasn't powerful. Apparently, they haven't cleaned it for a long time.||||I think that this hotel can potentially be a very good one in the future, but before that they need to improve on the many points highlighted above. The receptionist also told us they are planning to build a swimming pool - that will definitely be a plus...
Read moreWe have visited the Lumbung Bungalows in Karimunjawa from Saturday til Tuesday, so we spent 3 nights there. ||The bungalows are clean, the bed is comfortable, the outside shower very enjoyable and built with a nice style. They would tidy up your room everyday and provide new bottles of water that are free.||We, 2 couples, went there. Absolutely recommended, if you want to have a great time with you partner. The breakfast included is really good, you have a choice of 2 different kinds of breakfast, tea and coffee is free and you can order it anytime or they ask you anyways. The service is very appropriate and helpful, you can also ask them to pick you up from the harbour for really small costs. In any other question the personnel was very helpful and always friendly. The location itself is nice and separated from others, but not far at all from the village or from really beautiful beaches. ||100% want to go there again, since the price is very fair (350k per night for the bungalow...
