When we travel to a foreign country, we are vulnerable, we expect hospitality, safety and respect. In return, we reciprocate by returning, putting a good word, tipping or leaving a good review. Unfortunately on this ocassion, at nunamkhalu private villa and spa during check in, I met a very hostile member of staff who barged into a discussion I was having with another member of staff. When I asked him to stay away, he became angry, argumentative. Angry eye contact, sarcastic laughter, not backing down and ridiculing what I said or explained. Problem with this is, we were scared if he is a mafia member or a local goon. We might be hurt in a way where we might be physically harmed. For not a single moment was I disrespectful. Neither did I say I would not pay the cash deposit they were asking. The reason for this review is not the above incident happening. Incidents happen when they businesses have untrained rude staff working and customers can easily get stressed. The real reason is that it was not followed up by either their manager or any other manager of staff. When we were checking out, the same member of staff was speaking in the local language about us to there other staff right in front of me, smirking sarcastically as if to tease us. Regarding the villas, the positives and negatives are listed below. Positives - Beautiful villas, mostly well maintained and massive area. - Water heat and pressure good. -Wonderful breakfast arrangement. - Moderately priced in room dining and restaurant. - Friendly and very helpful restaurant staff. - Indah and Violani in front office are very efficient. - Very economically priced. - Shuttle to beach and grocery is provided. - Excellent reception upon arrival by bell boy. Strong Wifi. Negatives - Cheap as chips because of the location. - Very far from anything you can remotely call as happening. - No restaurants or any shops available where you can walk to. - Room service/reception communication is only possible via Whatsaap and on most ocassions the responses are overly casual. - Air conditioning was faulty in the bedroom, resulting in a sleepless night. Fixed the next night. - The pool was a bit too bland, simple and packed any kind of soul. - Room cleaning was average, not even the placemats on the table were arranged. The drying rack was left at the door entrance. - You will need to rent a bike or book a taxi to get around the area. - They over charge for the bike rental by about 25% which is fine for the convenience and clean helmets. - This is at the end of Nusa Dua, just to say you stayed around Nusa Dua. - The restaurant menu is very limited.

We stayed in the One Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa which was an extremely huge 2-level unit with its own private pool. It was unfortunate that each time you’d like to use the pool, you’d have to contact the receptionist to send someone to “turn on the circulation” or pool lights if you’re swimming at night. Buggy services within the villa are provided. Our unit happened to be the one deepest in the villa compound and we had to call for a buggy via a WhatsApp message to the receptionist everytime we left/returned because it was so far and there was a steep slope on the way to the lobby. Shuttle bus services to Pandawa Beach and Pepito Express Kutuh (supermarket) are also provided daily at 10AM, 12PM, 3PM and 6PM. For the supermarket, they will wait for you to finish your shopping before bringing you back to the villa. The Spa packages are offered at a 50% discount for guests. The “Romantic Gateway” package includes a flower bath which is a nice way to wrap up your massage, but remember to lock the door after the massueuse leave! Laundry services are offered by Nusa Laundry and the villa will help to arrange for collection and pick-up. 20K IDR/kg for regular 24h. Payment is required to be made in cash. Dining at the Saffron Restaurant for breakfast was a terrible experience and undoubtedly the worst part of our stay. I would advise against booking with breakfast included. As pointed out by other reviewers, the “buffet” section is limited and almost seems like it’s only stocked once and never refilled so expect to see majority of it empty. Service is slow, the food is subpar and not as described. For example, the Banana Pancake which was described as having “slice banana, strawberry, maple syrup served with vanilla ice cream” was served without strawberries or the vanilla ice cream. The Poach Egg on Avocado had a solid yolk with heavily browned and mashed avocado which had plenty of lemon added to it, making it tarte and unpleasant. Overall, we had a fantastic time at Nunamkhalu and would recommend it and suggest that you skip Saffron Kitchen/breakfast inclusion. Service was mostly great and pleasant, with special praise to Violina for her endearing smile and attention to detail!

In February 2023, I had the pleasure of spending two nights at Nunamkhalu Villa, nestled in the beautiful Uluwatu area of Bali. This Villa is an exceptional find, offering superb value for its price and facilities. At under one million rupiah per night, the facilities provided are truly impressive. The villa features a second-floor balcony, a private pool, and a refrigerator. It also includes a private kitchen, dining room, living room, and a spacious bedroom equipped with a king-sized bed. The bathroom is large, offering a bathtub, shower, and an ample supply of towels, making the overall stay comfortable and convenient. The location of the villa is another major plus. It is situated close to popular spots like Melasti Beach, GWK, and Pandawa Beach. The villa also provides shuttle service to these beaches, which is a fantastic perk. At checkout, they even gave us a complimentary sandwich to take away, a small touch that left a positive final impression. However, I believe there's some room for improvement, specifically in regards to breakfast. While the quality was acceptable, there could be a wider variety of choices. Nonetheless, the option of a floating breakfast was a unique touch, adding to the overall charm and novelty of the villa. In conclusion, Nunamkhalu Villa is a great place to stay for those looking for comfort, convenience, and value in Uluwatu. While it has some areas that could be improved, the overall experience was highly satisfying and exceeded expectations for its price point.

If you’re looking for a place in Bali to truly relax - this is it! Let me start with the strongest part of this villa complex: the staff. Warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Every request we had - whether it was a transfer or renting a scooter - was handled quickly and with care.

How it all began: I couldn’t complete the booking through aggregator websites - the payment just wouldn’t go through. So I found their phone number on the official site and messaged them via WhatsApp. We booked the villa in a few messages, no deposit needed. I paid on arrival. That moment alone showed their high level of customer service.

We arrived late at night - check-in was smooth. The reception operates 24/7. They met us, put us in a car, and drove us straight to our villa. The territory is large, but there’s a free on-demand transfer service within the complex. We mostly walked, but having a ride option was great on hot days or in the evening.

Transfers are also available to the beach and the nearby store. They offer four daily rides to Pandawa Beach. For the return trip, just send them a message and they’ll pick you up. There’s also a transfer to the closest supermarket - super handy if you plan to cook, since the villas come with full kitchens.

Comfort and thoughtful touches that make a difference: – Every villa has its own private pool, plus there’s a large shared pool. – Free complimentary massage for all guests - and it was genuinely great. – Two restaurants on-site: breakfast in one, lunch and dinner in the other (starting at noon). Everything we tried was tasty and reasonably priced. – Room cleaning is available daily on request. Free tea, coffee, and water cooler at the villa. – There’s a billiards table, if you’re in the mood. – And small gestures like free ice cream offered at the reception while chatting - these really make you feel welcome)

We stayed in both Standard and Deluxe villas. The Standard villa is great - spacious and light, with an open-air rooftop perfect for sunbathing. The Deluxe villa, though, is on another level. Huge, well-furnished, with a covered second floor, lounge area, and a large, beautiful bathroom (huge bathtub). Both villa types were clean, with fresh-smelling linens and a relaxing atmosphere

You also get fast Wi-Fi, help with motorbike rental, access to laundry services, and parking if you have a car. Everything you might need - they’ve thought of it

About the location. Some say it’s “too far” - but that depends on your goals. If you want to explore Bali, rent a scooter or a car (there’s parking). If you just want to relax, you don’t need to go anywhere: the villa, the beach transfer, and the restaurant cover all your needs. Walking distance isn’t really a thing in Bali - transportation is key here

Final thoughts. This place gives you genuine care, comfort, and the feeling that you’re truly welcome. Yes, there might be tiny cosmetic imperfections - but they’re so minor that the positives completely outweigh them.

Highly recommended. I’ll definitely come back - and I’ll gladly recommend...

Our stay at Nunamkhalu Private Villas & Spa was, unfortunately, a major disappointment. Here's why:

Dirty and Muddy Tap Water On the first day, the tap water was muddy and dirty. When we raised this issue, we were told it was due to ongoing construction. However, I’ve seen similar complaints on Google with the same excuse. This seems to be a recurring issue that hasn’t been resolved. While we appreciated one of the gentleman staff members kindly moving us to another room, but this problem could easily affect other guests as well.

Unsanitary Drinking Water Setup After moving rooms, we were advised to use distilled water for drinking. However, the setup was appalling. The distilled water came in a water carboy placed inside a container, but there was no proper dispenser. The water had to contact the bottle’s dirty surface, and to make matters worse, we discovered a dead mosquito inside the container when replacing the bottle. By that time, we had already consumed a lot of the water. This was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable for a property of this caliber.

Reception Staff & Shuttle Service Issues The reception staff’s was disappointing. The shuttle arrangement, which is supposed to be a convenience, turned into a frustrating experience. The schedule for the shuttle to the beach was clear, but there were no instructions on how to return. We confirmed with the receptionist lady that we could simply call the reception for a pick-up when we were ready, and they would send a car in 10 minutes. However, when we called, the receptionist argued that she had provided clear instructions and claimed the return was also on a schedule (which she had never mentioned). After a long argument, they begrudgingly sent a car, but it felt like they were doing us a favor. The whole ordeal wasted a lot of time, and we ended up waiting 45 minutes in the parking lot for the shuttle. Honestly, we could have called a Gojek for just USD2-3 and avoided the hassle altogether.

Room Condition Despite paying extra for a deluxe villa, the room was outdated. The furniture was old, and while the bathtub was large, the hot water was insufficient to fill it up. For the price we paid, the value was just not there.

This was the worst experience we had in Bali. We stayed at other resorts and villas in Ubud and Nusa Dua, and they were far superior in terms of service, cleanliness, and overall value. While Nunamkhalu may offer a large villa with a private pool, it only feels worth it if you book the cheapest room type. Otherwise, it’s better to either save money by staying at a nicer resort or pay more for a better villa in another area. Spend your money elsewhere- Bali has so many...
