Wood Shack — Restaurant in Kuta Selatan

I would not recommend this place. It’s scammy.

The three of us went there for dinner.

Our brother paid. And it ended up being 600k idr for a nasi goreng, a mie goreng, a satay ayam, a chicken ayam, some onion rings, 4 drinks.

We thought it was a bit expensive. So I went back to the counter to check our itemized receipts. The waiter was quick to supply me a handwritten one. It was itemized and clear. Except at the bottom of the list, there was our true total written down as 495,000. And it was crossed out and changed to 600,000.

For no reason at all, they have changed our total on the bill from 495,000 to 600,000. I questioned the waiter and he said “maybe your brother wants to tip us? I don’t know?🤷‍♂️” That immediately left a bad taste in our mouths.

The food was good but we couldn’t really enjoy it.

We then also saw a female waitress pick up a bill from the floor behind some customers (they probably dropped that bill), and quickly put it in her pocket on her way back towards the kitchen after clearing some tables.

This hidden gem is a must visit! So many of the popular places with a lot of reviews are disappointing, so it is always a great pleasure to discover places like the Wood Shack. Variety of choices, prices are decent and the food quality is top! The Mie Goreng vegetarian was the best one I have eaten in Bali so far. What I really like is that, instead of standard tofu, they give you some grilled veggies and mushrooms. Delicious! The staff is happy and friendly and the place has inside and outside seating, which is amazing if you want to enjoy some sunrays too. Ordered the mahi mahi . 70idr . Tasted good smoky flavor if it wasn't drowned in a white sauce. Couldn't have been 3 oz. Kids size portion. 5 finger sized potato wedges and salad was an oversized garnish. 50 idr for onion rings. 5 rings.. seriously disappointed. I then ordered a chicken curry dish over salted . Smallest portions I've had on bali in 3 weeks. . Gotna hot tea with a dash of milk. Thimble size milk charge us fornthe milk 15idr. Lol Staff was nice and did a good job then place is very cool .
