We stayed here for 1 night. The accommodation itself is very nice with a spectacular view. The reason for the drop in star is due to a couple of factors. Firstly the owner arranged our first transfer to his hotel from our previous accommodation over 1.5 hours away. When we were collected, the driver had a relative in the car with him who accompanied us for the entire journey. However he smelt heavily of cigarettes and BO which made our transfer quite uncomfortable.
The other factor was that we opted for the tour the next day. The first half through the padi fields and waterfall was excellent, however, once we arrived at the coffee shop our guide just left us to it, whereas we noticed other guides stayed with their guests and showed them things like the raw chocolate beans. Our guide instead waited around the corner on his phone. Then when we trekked to the monkey forest it was rushed almost as if we were trying to wrap up quickly. The guide also started spending some time on his phone as he juggled other responsibilities.
Then when we were moving to our next location our host quoted us 100k for a 9 minute journey which is opportunistic, greedy, and excessive ( e.g on grab we've paid that for a 1 hour journey before). He said it with a smile on his face too.
All in all this is a good place, however we felt that the second part of our tour should have continued to the same standard as the first half, and that the ongoing transfer was quoted...
Read moreI booked two nights at rice field inn, because it had so many good reviews. At first sight the accommodation was great, spotlessly clean and comfortable. However, as I was sitting on my bed at night, suddenly something fell down on my face and it turned out to be a mouse (or rat, I'm not sure) poop. I immediately checked where it could come from and it turned out that the wall/ledge on the side of the headboard was full of mouse/rat feces (see image). I then also realized that the sounds that I'd been hearing were rodents knawing in the wall between the bedroom and the bathroom and I heard paws skittering around as well. I immediately notified the owner, however, he didn't seem surprised and only offered to spray some poison in the roof, which would obviously not solve the problem in the short or the long term. I requested my money back for at least the second night and the owner agreed at first, but after making me wait for a while he said he would only give me back half of my second night. As the owner afterwards listed my stay as a no show, I was not able to leave a review on booking.com, so I'm leaving my review here. All in all, this was very disappointing and since I had to look for another accommodation late at night it was also very stressful. I hope the issue gets resolved because the bungalow is otherwise really nice, however given the response of the owner, I highly doubt...
Read moreThere are no words to fully describe the kindness and hospitality of Amang from Rice Field Inn. We arrived in Tetebatu only to discover that our original host could no longer accommodate us. Without hesitation, Amang welcomed us warmly, picking us up with our luggage and offering us a place to stay, despite the complete lack of notice.
His generosity went far beyond expectations: he provided us with water, delicious food, and even took us on a tour of the nearby villages, where we had the chance to witness and take part in the beautiful local handicrafts. The room we stayed in was spotless, thoughtfully arranged, and surrounded by the peace and beauty of nature—a true haven.
The next day, Amang kindly found us another accommodation and arranged all the necessary transportation for us. We truly felt like part of a family: we met many members of the local community, whose warm smiles and genuine hospitality made us feel embraced and at home.
Tetebatu is a charming village, with breathtaking landscapes and a vibrant, hard-working, and generous community. From the hands of its people come both culinary delights and stunning handcrafted creations.
We are deeply grateful for this authentic experience and for having met Amang and the extraordinary community...
