Many years ago when this hotel was still running under a different name and had an excellent Dutch manager I was staying there very often. Back then it was definitely one of the best hotel options in Manado. Because of all the fond memories I decided to stay there for a few days again during a recent return visit to North Sulawesi. Saying that the stay was a disaster would be an understatement.
Yes, the large lobby still looks impressive when you enter the hotel. But why is it so hot? According to the staff the A/C was "under maintenance", but nothing improved during the next two days.
Entering the room was a "déja vu" - nothing has changed since 20 years, except for the tv. Furniture is still the same, including the sofa with a large stain. Acceptable, until you enter the bathroom. No changes here as well but by now everything looks worn, tired and dirty, with little flies everywhere. Towels must be from 20 years ago, too. And the floor towel apparently hadn't been changed after the previous guests. Hot water? Not available, only lukewarm. According to the staff also "under maintenance" but no improvement either after two days.
A/C in the room was ok-ish but had to be set to 10°C in order to get the room temperature down to 24.
The hotel was once famous for its breakfast, now it offers very few choices, especially if you aren't Asian. Staff seems untrained; one of them took my plate while I was away for a minute to get some fruits, even though it was clearly visible that I hadn't finished my breakfast yet.
Maybe the worst part is that the hotel is incredibly noisy. No carpets anymore in the hallways and old doors that close with a bang. Lock mechanism not working properly, be prepared to get locked out of your room. Worst part was that during my second night at 5am the guests in the next room - to which I unfortunately had a connecting door - decided to have a party, with loud music, singing and shouting. I called the front office and they promised to send security but the party kept going. After this I fled the hotel even though I had already paid for another night. It was simply unbearable.
My impression had always been that Aryaduta is a rather upmarket brand of hotels but for Aryaduta Manado this could not be further...

They might want to try making so that the elevator (6 total with 3 on each side) to only divide the button connection between left button for left side and right for right (cause its a bit annoying to look behind on which elevator gonna open
Im staying at the 10th floor and are greeted by a beautiful elevator lobby view which open up to the sea on the west part and lobby are clean
But looking down, the pool water are murky and not clear.
It is quite understandable that some things at the hotel need to be updated due to age, but some of the age help set the mood and make the hotel feel nostalgic
The problem i have start with my bedroom you need to push/pull the door really hard to make sure it close and lock properly the bedroom size is ok for the class and also the size of the bathroom is good the lamp cover is old with covered in stain, also a bit dusty bed is clean and the mattress are firm i think they need to watch the corner of the room when cleaning cause dust, hair, and some small debris are swept to the corner and left there upon checking in and opening the water for the tub, i was met with a brownish water. So i need to let the water run for a few minute to get clean water their hot water is thankfully hot, so. I can soak my body properly the bedside table i have in my room are shaky no explanation on the room telephone, so i am confused on what number to call the operator bedroom fridge have frost but its weirdly warm 🤔
