Disappointing Stay at Penida Paradiso – Not Worth the Hype

Our experience at Penida Paradiso was extremely disappointing and far from what was promised. The bed linens were visibly dirty and stained – absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one charging a premium. The cutlery provided in the room was broken and filthy, making it unusable. The property looks nothing like the photos online – what you see is definitely not what you get. The hotel seemed grossly understaffed. There was no one to help us with our bags, and basic assistance was hard to come by. We paid for breakfast as part of the package, but there was no vegetarian menu. All we were offered was toast and butter – that’s it. The washroom had a constant, unbearable foul smell which made the entire space unhygienic and uncomfortable. There was a serious communication gap throughout. We tried contacting the owner both to arrange a port pickup and to report issues, but got no response.

I recently visited Nusa Penida and spent a few days at Penida Paradiso Beach Cottage, and it was an incredible stay. The staff was kind, reliable, and went above and beyond—every morning, they brought breakfast straight to my room, including fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, and a perfectly cooked omelet to start the day.

The cottage is just 40 feet from the ocean, with a beautiful pool and a relaxing cabana, making it an ideal spot to unwind. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the hosts did a fantastic job ensuring I had everything I needed. I also rented a scooter from them, which worked flawlessly and made it easy to explore the island and commute to training.

Compared to Bali, Nusa Penida feels far more peaceful and authentic, with fewer tourists and a more laid-back vibe. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic getaway, I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ll definitely be...

We absolutely fell in love with this hotel! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by an incredibly kind hostess, always smiling, attentive, and helpful. The entire staff is incredibly welcoming, which makes the stay even more enjoyable.

Everything is spotlessly clean, from the rooms to the common areas, reinforcing the feeling of comfort and well-being. The homemade breakfasts are a true delight: every morning, we enjoyed fresh and delicious products, carefully prepared.

We had such a wonderful time that we decided to extend our stay—that's how perfect everything was! The seaside setting, the serenity of the place, the quality of the service... everything comes together to make for an unforgettable stay.
