IMPORTANT TO READ!!! We booked a room on the highest floor, quiet, king bed. We got a street-side room on the low floor with a zipped king bed Hotel is surrounded by mosques so it is super noisy when they are playing Mold in the bathroom Shower was broken Strange smell in the drains Zipped king bed, not proper king. Very lumpy. Room smells stale, like water damage. Old air conditioner and very noisy. Lowest level is extremely strong Staff wouldn't offer change of room to higher floor, as requested. At dinner time, restaurant staff had to be called over twice before they gave us a menu to order. We then had to ask them to come and take our order...they were standing around doing nothing and ignored us! Food took 45 mins to arrive then was cold when it arrived. The staff forgot to get it from the chef and it was left for a long time waiting to be delivered to the table. Breakfast was disgusting- all oily, greasy and fatty Indonesian food. No fresh food, western options and healthy options. No granola, vegetables (such as tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, the usual breakfast buffet options). We had a small serving of scrambled eggs and that was it. Poor quality and quantity of food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Nothing fresh.

RECOMMENDATION: Stay at Grand Zuri Hotel - our friend stayed here and it was beautiful! It is new and clean, awesome facilities and super...

I booked the mercure hotel, Padang, West Sumatera for 8-10June 2019, through accor online reservation, wtih booking number: Hkxsjmqk.

Since I came the city early, so I made additional, direct reservation at front office on Jun 7, 2019 om around 23.30 hrs. I book 2 junior suite rooms for me and family.

I was glad to have room with access to privilege lounge. I came at 12.30 pm , But, it was sad that the lounge kept un-attended with none waiter there to serve customer. A house keeper helped to find the waiter, and hence I can seat.

Waiter ask me for a voucher to access the lounge that front officer missed to give me last night. Waiter asked me to wait until she came back with voucher that only eligible for 2 pax only, instead of 4 pax refer to 2 suite room I booked.

She explained thar voucer were only valid for a cup of coffee or tea or a a glass of juice only. NO MORE. No food at all, even a light meal or snack

I though I can enjoy a glaas of juice at daytime and a cup of tea after a dinner. But it seems not applicable here. Lounge is only free for one glass/cup welcome drink only.

It was strange experince and never happened before at the other hotel and even at othe property...

We’re usually going for mid-range guesthouses but for Mercure’s price point (especially when on promotion) was fantastic. Room was spotless clean, spacious and luxurious, very comfortable bed for sleeping like on a cloud. Special mention to the friendly reception staff on duty - our flight got cancelled due to Marapi volcanic activity and we only arrived in Padang one day later. Despite the strict non-refundable clause, they were able to extend a night for us. As our time in West Sumatra is flexible, we felt so much at home that we booked and extended another night as well. Sustainability concept is a plus for us especially also with the free water refills (although we thought hotel restaurant downstairs could also offer normal drinking water instead of bottled water). Location is pretty quiet in daytime and not vibrant as compared to Chinatown, but at night there are seafood restaurants along the main road beside the beach. Good to relax in hotel if you are not doing much in Padang and recommended if you want to enjoy some luxury after...

Overall, it was a quite good 4D3N staying experience. Location is great, just next to the Padang Beach with 5 minutes walking distance to various coffee shops to enjoy the sunset. Room was spacious, clean, with a nice view to the hills and the beach, equipped with wide smart TV, made me very comfortable to just stay in the room hours and hours. Pool area was also great, gave an absolute chilling vibes with live music just before iftar time. If anything needs to be improved, is the receptionist staff. She told me to wait in the lounge until 2PM for the check-in and promised would come and give me the key at the mentioned time. After waiting for like 1 hour or so, I didn't get the key until I came back to the reception desk and got it myself. I saw the other guests (the foreigners and the more fancy looking locals) had better treatment on this matter. But other than that, it was quite an enjoyable experience staying here.
