Really enjoyed my stay here! This place is a hidden gem. Had to travel way up a remote dirt path and my driver’s GPS stopped working so I had no idea what to expect and was so pleasantly surprised. It’s quiet and peaceful, there were just a few other guests who were very friendly. There’s a great restaurant / hang out area, and breakfast is included (I had a yummy omelette + coffee + fruit). The absolute highlight is the natural hot springs pool, overlooking the gorgeous surrounding mountains. And the price!
Drawback is the FLIES omg…so bad that I couldn’t eat my breakfast in the outdoor restaurant and had to take it into my room.
I stayed in a mixed 6-bed dorm room which was fine and fairly clean, albeit a bit run down. No AC, just one fan for the room, so it was very hot in the day but fine at night when the temp cooled down. There are big cubbies and locks for your bag.
Owner was kind and arranged a taxi to take me to my mount batur hiking start point in the early AM, however I learned that the hotel is also a start point for the hike which would have been better to not pay $300k round trip for a local taxi to take me somewhere else to start the hike (I had already booked with...
Read morePerfect place to stay if you want to do the Mt Batur trek. We checked in the day before our trek. The family room was located on the far end of the property with beautiful views and quiet setting. It was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. They had a nice cabinet for our belongings. We loved how we can open all the doors and windows to enjoy the view of the lake and Mt Abang. The room comes with hairdryer, TV, fan, your own 5 gallon drinking water with dispenser, soap & shampoo. My son enjoyed the hammock and there was plenty of relaxation space on our front deck. My favorite was the natural hot springs. I soaked the night before our climb and immediately after the climb while waiting for some food to be prepared. Gede and Yoga were very helpful with checkin and arranging the best trek guide - Pak Made. I have been wanting to do this trek for a long time since I moved to Bali and I picked the perfect place to stay with the perfect guide. The guide met me at 3:30 at the Black Lava, prepared a cup of hot chocolate and some pastries. We left at 4:00 AM straight from Black Lava...
Read moreBeautiful view. hostel has beautiful grounds and a small pool as well as a restaurant. It is at the base of Mt. Batur. It is more of a camping experience. The dormitory is clean and organized, the one I stayed in had the mattresses on the floor. There were individual lockers in the room with locks. The shower and toilets were outside. Breakfast was included with my nightly fee of $9 usd. The staff is extremely friendly. But I would not stay here again. This area is prone to an extreme amount of flies which is also mentioned in other reviews of other facilities in this area. I would also like a bit more security as a single woman traveling alone at night in a dorm room. I would like the ability to be able to at least latch the door so that I don't have to be concerned about somebody coming in in the middle of the night. The road to the hospital is accessible by motor scooter or car. I caution you though as there are some areas of the road that have extreme broken up concrete and dips in the road so you have to...
