To cut our overland journey from the Ijen plateau in Java to Seminyak in Bali in half, we decided to find a place to sleep in the not well known northwest part of Bali. After some searching on the internet we booked for one night at the Surf Villa in Medewi.|We never experienced such a nice atmosphere and laidback feeling before during our trip in Sumatra, Java and Bali. |The Medewi surf villa is located about 2 km from the mainroad and the town of Medewi in the middle of fantastic ricefields. It is very quiet, has stunning views across the ricefields and the ocean, large and clean airconditioned rooms and is runned by a very nice and friendly man named Eddy who makes you immediately feel like home. There even is a small swimmingpool and breakfast is prepared by the wife of Eddy and delivered at your room. There are only 3 rooms of which we stayed in the "villaroom" on the top floor which has a large bathroom but as most spectacular feature a big rooftopterrace with sofa's and stunning views.|Don't go to the town for diner, beacause the neighbouring restaurant "Dewi and Rasta" has very nice food for a good price and a friendly owner who functions as a cook, waitress and entertainer all at the same time. |Besides surfing at the perfect waved of Medewi there is nothing else to do besides relaxing and enjoying the sound of silence. |Paul Rootjes,...
Read moreWe have been very disappointed by Medewi Surf villa. We made a booking for two nights in the villa on booking.com. My girlfriend wrote email to the owner several days in advance to arrange a transfer for our next stage and everything was looking perfect.||But when we arrived the owner was not there. We went to the little warung next to the hotel where they called the owner to arrange our check-in. They have been very welcoming with us and we had a lunch before check-in. Once we were ready they brought us to a different building that the villa and they told us that the villa was already full. The other accommodation was of course not at all in line with what we booked. ||We called the owner and he just told us that there was a problem with the booking. So it turns out that the owner is just not able to manage the booking in his 2-rooms villa. He still accept new customer when rooms are already booked. So we decided to leave and find an other accommodation by ourselves. ||However one day later we received a booking.com notification because the owner reported us as "no-show". ||We wrote to booking the full story and we just hope we will not get any...
Read moreI cannot say enough about how good this experience was. The villa itself is lovely, spacious and clean. Huge patio, cold A.C. and hot shower. Splendid views. Plus a killer soundsystem! Perfect location out in the quiet rice paddies 2 minutes from the surf. Breakfast was ital and clearly prepared with love. Plus the spot is walking distance from Rasta Cafe- best dinner in town.||||But- the best part by far was the over-the-top hospitality and genuine warmth of my host. Husan went far out of his way at every turn to make my stay perfect. He phoned immediately to confirm my reservation, waited up for hours to check me in after I got lost on my way to town, and later sorted me out of a serious jam when my scooter broke down quite far from Medewi. I've been in the hospitality industry for decades, and Husan is the best I've ever known.||||Medewi in general was a treat; quiet town, great surf, small community of friendly locals. Stay anywhere else and...
