As a family of 5, (4 adults and 1 child) we stayed here for a week. On arrival the place seemed to be lovely. Beautiful setting, with lush greenery all around and a poolside bungalow, what more could you want?||After a few hours we sat back and actually looked at what you get for your money both pros and cons-||Pros |-Lovely setting|-Big rooms|-Staff very friendly|-Breakfast good (when they get it right, but wasn't included in the price)|-Free lift into town (as this is more than just outside Ubud)|-Help organising days out|-Private pool (if you rent the whole poolside house)||Cons|-Leaking window in hall (stopped with towels)|-Leak from bath upstairs |-Kitchen is a waste of space at best (a two gas burner, a few utensils and some Mia matched crockery don't make a kitchen, neither does a cupboard falling off the wall)|-Outdoor bathroom seems nice (get soaked if it's raining and have to use toilet, mosquitos love it in there and stones to stand on while showering are awful)|-None of the doors are sealed therefore the masses of ants are free to come and go as they please.|-Bees have a nest by the pool (be careful)|- Lots of apartments are being built across the river and this can get very noisy.|- If you require to do anything on the Internet, then good luck! My old dial up was quicker!|- Two air conditioning units on the wall, but only one works.|- Faults were evident when we arrived, but nobody mentioned them.|- Before we left, the pool had a lot of chlorine put in it. (We were not told and my 6 year old ended up with a sore red rash!)|- Towels were not changed once in a week.|- We asked for an extra bed, (a mattress on the floor does not constitute a bed, which we had to pay for)|- Only 2 sun loungers by the pool (could get awkward if more than one family in the house) ||Overall it seems that Umah D'Ubud can do the big things very well, such as the setting, the wow factor and the location. However if you look further than skin deep, this place isn't really practical. ||With the extra you would pay in taxi fees getting in and out of town etc I would much rather stay closer to Ubud.||Overall as a family we have given this place a 3 rating, and we still feel that this is generous. ||We are visiting Bali again next year, however we won't be staying here. We will be staying in central Ubud and would recommend others do the same.||Other than that, Bali is an amazing place and we hope you enjoy the sights and culture as much...
Read moreIn short: if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing time in a beautiful environment, don't expect extra amenities (e.g. safe, hairdryer) and don't mind a short drive into Ubud this is the perfect place to stay.||||Longer version: I stayed at Umah de Ubud alone for three nights during my short holiday in Bali. Upon my arrival at around 10 pm I was warmly welcomed by the family running the small hotel. While I didn't get to see much of the property itself because it was already dark I was really impressed by the beautiful and spacious deluxe room which looked even better than I had expected. It included bedroom with a canopy bed, two chairs and small table, a mini-fridge and TV, a dressing room with a wardrobe as well as a big bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. When I opened the windows in the morning I found a small tropical garden with a hindu shrine, pond and massage table in front of the terrace. Breakfast was served in another part of the hotel - the choice´for breakfast was limited (fresh fruit, fruit smoothie, egg and toast or egg and rice (the second day it was pancakes or eggs and bread), plus coffee or tea) but everything was freshly prepared and filled my stomach. On the first day I spent a few hours alone at the pool in the garden attached to my the building with my room. In the afternoon, the hotel offered a shuttle into Ubud (return by taxi). The hotel itself does not offer food except for breakfast but one can order food and drinks from a restaurant that delivers to the room. On the second evening I found a restaurant nearby (about 10 min walk) and had...
Read moreWe travelled as a couple and we stayed 5 Nights at Suite II. It was fantastic and the property is family running business. Ari is the lady who is handling everything and providing everything that what we were asked. The breakfast is amazing and they are providing many more verities. "Fried Banana,Pan cake & Mei gurrang fried noodles" is amazing. ||||They have provided cooking facilities inside the Suite. The bedroom is located at upstair and kitchen, living, dinning, balcony and bathroom was downstair. In kitchen area they provided 4 burners hot plate and 2 saucepans. ||||The villa is very quiet and recommended to couples. Location is bit far away from the Ubud Center, but hotel is providing free drop to Ubud Center. Its managable. ||||There are only few negatives are there at our stay.||1) Air-condition is not enough to cover entire villa (upstair bedroom and downstair)||||2) Bathtub is their own prepared one by using tiles.||||All other facilities are amazing and fantastic. ||||Thanks Ari and the staff who was treated us nicely. ||||Definitely we will stay again at...
