Over all experience was descent, guesthouse is beautiful. Staff is generally nice but owners are greedy liars

Well kept garden and pool Rooms are a descent size with fairly clean bathrooms Quiet and peaceful Stable wifi
Cons: No business integrity from owners, they only care about $$$
During covid, when the guesthouse was low occupancy and in dire need, a friend and I made a deal to pay a few months up front at a time for a discounted price for the remainder of the year. Covid scares ended and the border opened up soon after we moved in. The owners then reneged on our deal and raised rent 33% with 2 weeks notice. We successfully negotiated a smaller rise in rent and made it clear 2 weeks notice is unacceptable.
Fast forward almost 2 months later we we were given 4 weeks notice for another ~25% increase in rent.. more negotiations and this kept on with threats of eviction until we refused to pay villa prices for a regular guest house room.
The problem was getting asked to pay MORE, when staff and owners started doing LESS. The owners fired 2 lovely cleaners who asked for a 1 million IDR salary raise. The owner refused and replaced them with 1 cleaner who smelled of body odor (BO), cigarettes and was horrible at cleaning the rooms. The lowriding jeans teenage cleaner simply made things wet, wiped dirt to a diffrent spot and left. These concerns were brought up to the owners and the only fix was the BO. Over the next few months an additional 2nd cleaner would cycle in and out but turnover seemed high as the additional cleaner never seemed to last long.
Side note, 1 time I caught the owners lying unprovoked. The Indo lady owner lied about simply being a manager, and to hurry up and pay for 3 months up front for the winter months of 2022 otherwise the Australian owners would come with their family and book whatever wasn’t reserved for their vacation. During that time I discovered there were no Australian owners. Paying lump sums was fine, but why make up fibs to secure some money?
Back to the list, kitchen does not have overhead cupboards To no fault of the owners, lots of stray barking dogs on the roads leading to the guesthouse and sometimes difficulty getting grab / gojek orders as the Guesthouse is not listed properly...
Read moreA guesthouse with a lot of potential. Beautiful garden, quiet location, nice fellow residents, but the service and privacy is very bad. Communication is very bad and unfriendly. We were negotiating the price of the room, but at one point the owner said that the room was no longer available. Rented by other guests. But when I agreed the price she asked for, suddenly we could stay in the room. Quite special.
After a long flight, once arrived at the guesthouse (self check-in), we received a message the next morning. Whether we could pay the entire amount for our entire stay immediately.. No welcome message or interest how it goes.
Not much privacy because of the cleaning boys. The boys are friendly, but sit all day in the shared outdoor area that is intended for the guests. They watch videos on their phone all day with the sound turned up loud. We asked several times if it could be quieter, but every day they started again. The owner comes without announcing with a technician, while we are both working in the room. When we said that it was not convenient, she got angry. This was a shame and very inappropriate.
The room and service. Mold in the bathroom, and the first 5 days we showered with cold water. The owner bought a new boiler, which was nice, so thanks again. We really appreciated! However, the problem was not solved, because we had hot water for 3 minutes.. after that there was no solution. That means that we were not able to take a normal warm shower during our entire stay of 11 days.

Read moreI stayed at this guest house for a month and experienced an unacceptable situation. I initially arranged to rent the room on a monthly basis, but on the first day of my second month, when I asked how could if I could pay by credit card, I was informed—without any prior notice—that my room had been given to another customer. They abruptly told me, “We are booked; you didn’t say that you’ll extend, you have to leave.” Despite my work commitments that day, they demanded I check out immediately or threatened to pack my belongings themselves.
This lack of communication and disregard for their guests is unacceptable. No notice was provided—not a week, a day, or even hours beforehand—leaving me scrambling to find accommodation for the night. In most developed countries, evicting a tenant without proper notice is illegal.
It seems they either prioritized short-term profits or displayed complete organizational failure.
While the room itself was generally fine, it had several downsides: The mattress was extremely hard, causing back pain every morning. The sink leaked consistently. The shower provided hot water for only 10 minutes, making it impractical for shared use. Staff frequently forgot to replenish toilet paper.
