Hotel Riswan Guest House — Hotel in Sulawesi

Most places in Bira were deserted when I was there. Seems that if it is not weekend you have plenty of choice. I would go for the Riswan again.||||Clean bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed. Not TV. No Wifi. Nice little balcony where you can get your breakfast which is included in the room rate. Riswan, the owner, told me that he usually charges 250000 for an AC-room with attached (hot and cold water) bathroom, but if you stay longer then just two nights he will come down to 200000. He is a very friendly and experienced guy and hands out a very useful map of the region. If you need transport back to Makassar he can arrange that. Good laundry service as well. When I talked to the (few) other tourists then it was clear that Riswan Gueshouse is one of the better options to choose from. Sure, you do not have a beach-view, but the sun-deck (especially useful for women (they can not really sunbath in a bikini on Bira-beach) and the western style toilet are definitely a plus. It is worth the extra 50 000 Rupiahs (compared to most other places). I may add that no towels, soap or toilet paper is provided. ||||One word about the beaches themselves: they were so dirty - apart from India I have never seen dirtier beaches. Not only full of wood and coconuts but lots and lots of plastic. They started cleaning it up on Bira-beach, but on Bara and the Timur-beach nothing seems to be done about it. So, do not come if you are looking for nice beaches. Come for snorkelling, diving, the friendly people, the walks through the forests and the views...

It is located at a really good location within Bira beach zone. The service is exceptional, above all. I have a problem with my automatic transmission car (flat battery coz somehow the heat from radiator affect it and about half of the liquid inside vaporize). The owner help me start my car by replacing the battery with his car's so I can start it and he told me the location of a repair shop that sells car battery liquid so I can top up and solve my flat battery problem. Really a life saver. It is a guest house so you cannot compare it to hotel. If you want more luxury then check Puri View Inn, managed by the same owner, but rooms there are taken rather fast because they have a really nice...

Riswan Guest House is situated only 5 minutes walk from the main beach. Owner speaks english and he is a great help if you want to explore a nearby area. I stayed in a big room, with AC, balcony, breakfast and hot shower for 250 000 Rp. On the top of the accommodation have a nice terrace, where you can catch some sun if you are to lazy go to the beach. Definitely recommended if you want to stay...
