Horrifying Experience – Bed Bugs, Rude Manager, and Stolen Belongings

We’ve stayed at budget hostels and all kinds of accommodations over the years and yet, nothing comes close to the shocking experience we had at Erbil Quartz Hotel. What’s worse is that this place falsely markets itself as a 5-star hotel, when in reality, it doesn’t even meet the standards of basic hygiene.

On our very first night, we discovered a bed bug crawling in our bed. When we reported it, the response was completely dismissive we were told “it might just be one.” We insisted they take it seriously and call the manager, who turned out to be shockingly rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. After hours of arguing, we were moved to another room — but the manager refused to refund us for the night we had spent in the infested room. He only agreed to refund us for the following night.

To make matters worse, we had left chocolates from our home country in the fridge of the original room — a gift for friends. When we asked about it the next day, they told us the cleaning staff had either taken it or thrown it away, despite the fact that we were still staying at the hotel.

When we returned to the original room to check ourselves, the bed had been pulled away from the wall, revealing clusters of bed bug eggs proving this was not a single bed bug, but a clear infestation that the hotel had ignored.

What’s even more disturbing is that when we later checked the hotel’s Google reviews, we saw another reviewer had reported bed bugs just a few months ago. So the hotel was clearly aware of this issue and still failed to properly deal with it. That level of negligence is absolutely unacceptable.

This hotel does not care about guest safety, comfort, or hygiene. The manager was not only incompetent but showed zero empathy or accountability. This hotel is a health hazard masquerading as a luxury stay. The regular staff were kind and tried to help, but they’re powerless under such poor leadership.

I would honestly rather sleep on the streets than ever return to this hotel. It doesn’t deserve a single star. Avoid this hotel...

Hotels in Erbil are more expensive than they should be- you pay a lot for what you get. I've stayed at 3 different hotels in Erbil and visited others and found Erbil Quartz Hotel to be one of the best value ( book directly or through your local guide to get the best rate) hotel.||||Erbil Quartz Hotel is classified as a 5 star (more of a 3.5 to 4 star) hotel with a medium dated lobby and a barber shop near the lobby elevators. There is also an indoor pool and jacuzzi on the top floor. Check in was friendly and efficient.||||The room was average size, clean but dated and needed a bit of TLC. The bathroom was adequate ( towels were a bit old though) and the bed was OK. The air-conditioner wasn't the best ( typical at medium priced hotels) and there are intermittent short power outages (very common in Erbil especially during the hotter months). Free water was provided and the internet was reliable.||||Breakfast was not the best during my stay. It was buffet style but the choices were limited, not the best quality, no eggs to order nor fresh orange juice. It'll get you by till lunch.||||Even though I mentioned so many negatives, the stay was comfortable enough and the service was very friendly. Erbil Quartz Hotel is far from perfect, needs a renovation but despite these flaws it is still a good value ...

Location is very good, almost at center of many markets and walking distance to Tablo Mall which have Carrefour and many other brands.

Cleanness was perfect and staff taking care of everything.

Value for money is there and enjoy staying with them. Breakfast was good and tasty.

Facilities are good and well maintained.

Comfort is great, it's a quiet place and you can enjoy your sleep or working on your laptop.

Staff was very great and ver supportive, cooperative and quick responded.

There is a free wifi all around inside hotel.

Sure will book there every time I...

Erbil Quartz Hotel falls short of the standard expected from a 5-star establishment. During our two-night stay, several issues stood out. The towels and sheets showed visible wear, no longer white but beige or cream, with some sheets even having holes. The bath jacuzzi leaked, the chair in the room was stained, and the suite's thermostat was locked to a cooling setting, making the room uncomfortably cold with no way to raise the temperature. Breakfast was disappointing, with several items lacking freshness, and the juices were artificial and tasted awful. Traveling with a small baby added to the challenges. We had two connected rooms for the five of us—a suite and a standard room. While suite room felt bright and inviting, the other room happened to face pipes area with no proper windows or ventilation. Smoke from the cafe downstairs filled the reception area, creating an unpleasant environment for families. While the hotel has great potential due to its location and layout, significant improvements are necessary to meet higher standards. Solid 3 stars for this experience.

I stayed there for one week ,unfortunately, the behavior of one , which seemed to be significant person , was absolutely disrespectful, i had a lot of points on him but i will not mention it i hope the administration of hotel take that pint very seriously, because it will affect the fame of the hotel .
