The facilities are very good, with a large clean pool, a good restaurant serving buffet style breakfasts lunches and dinners, basketball and beach volleyballand courts, and a bar open late.
However, the pool opens quite late for a summer getaway, making you wait until 10:00 to open it - quite late in summer! The meals are very repetitive, being basically identical daily, and lunches matching dinners similarly. However, this is some of the best 3 star hotel food I've had so I'm not one to complain - the starter pasta dish is as big as I'd normally have as a meal! Beware the bar, which overcharges (they rip prices printed on bottles off and charge a premium). Also, it's a shame the basketball court is also used as a car park, but when I was there, there were about 6 coach parties there, which could explain it.
Don't get me wrong, these facilities are all good - the rooms are by far the thing that lets down the hotel most. For our large party, they put 4 of us in a 2 person room, which left very little space for any moving about. The bathroom is equally poorly designed, as the showers are very small - the reason being that they could put in a bidet, though it's rendered unusable by the lack of leg space on one side. The shower also has taps that you pull out to get the flow going, making it even harder to shower without knocking it and changing the temperature drastically.
We had 4 power sockets in our room, though the one under the TV (a single socket extension chord which protruded from a hole in the wall) did not work, the one between the room and bathroom light switches was not useable as our UK to EU adapters were round and the socket would only work with a flat plug, and one of the sockets under the bed was missing the actually socket - so we had just 1. BRING AN EXTENSION LEAD!
All in all, not too bad a hotel, and a welcome place to stay for a week - it's perfectly clean and mildly pleasant. The only thing to bear in mind is it's not as nice as it could have been, had they put more effort into designing the...
Read moreI am not in the habit of writing very negative reviews, but this hotel accepts many busloads of schoolchildren, and arranges them between the normal guests and families. The noice is of a sleep-depriving level. At the time we were there 5 different groups stayed there, my estimate would be 5x40=200 kids.
The shower cabins are 70x70cm max, too small for comfort. I am tall and slim but could barily rotate in it. The rooms are badly maintained, everything looks shabby. Door handled bent, missing trash bins, crasks and holes in the basin of the bathroom. The airco - when it was on (see other reviews) - was barily cooling the room. The TV was ridiculously small, my car has a larger display ;-)
Public toilets doors don’t close and don’t seem to be cleaned.
On the positive site: Some staff is great, in the bar and the pool attendant were nice, the reception staff does it’s best but in the end it’s failing management that ruins this hotel. The pool is great (when not innhabited by 150+ schoolkids)
The maitre of the restaurant is a class of inhospitality of its own, telling guests to go away when the arrive exactly on time for their meals.
Complaining in the form of positive criticism is not appreciated and any advice on how to improve this hotel is disregarded. I spoke to the general director and she couldn’t care less.
This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been in (I am 52 years old as I write this and I have seen many hotels in my life)
— Never ever book here, just don’t. Really!
Read moreI recently stayed here with a large group of students and our experience was excellent. The reviews don’t do any justice to the place, so please ignore them.||||It’s a three star hotel, so don’t be expecting minibars in the rooms or fancy interiors. Being attended by many school groups I totally understand the owner’s choice of not renovating furniture.||||All our rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was always hot. Bed sheets and towels were clean and the room was done daily.||||Regarding food, lots of options were offered both at breakfast and dinner. It’s buffet style so you can eat what you want and as much as you want. For breakfast we were offered lots of fruit, two different yoghurts, cereals, three different cakes, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, German sausages, cured meats, cheese, good coffee, tea, biscuits, “fette biscottate” and lots of spreads like Nutella and different jams. For dinner there were also lots of choices: rice salad, barley salad, cous cous, cooked veggies, “insalata russa”, “vitello tonnato”, two types of pasta (perfectly cooked and tasty), meat option (during our stay we had chicken, stew and pork), roasted potatoes and lots of salads.||||The location was also ideal: very close to towns on Lake Garda like Sirmione and Desenzano, Gardaland and Verona.||||Staff was very understanding and helpful.||||I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to other school groups and I would...
