Holiday at Villa Orsi, Lago Maggiori
We have been staying for 1 week with my 9 person family in Villa Orsi and it has been a wonderful experience. From the first contact with Daniel up to the very last minute everything was perfectly organized. The staff was very welcoming and responsive to all of our questions. The villa has been wonderfully restored with nicely furbished and spacious rooms. The website nicely shows the villa but the actual experience is even more overwhelming. Everything was available for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful scenery. The Italian hospitality, the old town, the local markets and travelling by boat gave it that special touch that is so difficult to find these days. For everybody there was something that matched their personal interest. That could be reading a book in the shade of one of the old trees, sunbathing along the pool with a cocktail, playing games in the garden, going to the lake for water sporting or cooking a family dinner in the well-equipped kitchen (not that that is needed as the village offers a range of good restaurants). For me personal it meant getting up early in the morning to enjoy the morning sun, have a fresh swim in the lake, showering outside and then waiting for the local fisherman to come in at 8.30 h. to buy fish for dinner. Preparing fish fresh from the lake on the well-equipped barbeque has been an experience I had been looking for a long time. I can go on a long time but like to close saying that life really doesn’t get better. My family has unanimously decided that...
Read moreVilla Orsi is a magical place located on the shore of Lake Maggiore. It is difficult to find the right adjectives to describe the beauty this villa radiates. The villa maintains the timeless features of the past. The beautiful ceilings, the tall windows, the intricate flooring all reminded us of the beauty the previous generations appreciated and enjoyed. Yet the villa still had all the modern conveniences we needed. We had a group of 10 family members from ages 8 years old to 75 years old. Everyone was very comfortable. Everyone was entertained whether inside the lovely villa or outside in the spacious and exceptionally well maintained gardens that even had a pool.. It felt like we were in our own personal resort. We rarely used our rental car because we were able to walk to great restaurants, to the water activities on Lake Maggiore, and to the ferries we used to take us to other picturesque villages. We immediately were made to feel welcome as we saw the delicious welcome basket in the kitchen. There was friendly and easy communication with the owner and host. Unfortunately, we were only able to spend just one week there. As always, we were glad to get home. Fortunately, we had many wonderful memories to...
Read moreThis villa has problems mentioned by previous occupants , and experienced by ourselves . It is managed by the owner charging Euros 12,000 per week total. His website states that EUR 4,500 per week "is for cleaning, bed and bath linen, etc.." . However, he chooses to levy up to Euros 2,000 if he decides that " additional cleaning has been required ". He refuses to provide any evidence of such expenditure . This " Additional cleaning" can be .... any objects left in the fridge, or failing to follow his (5) categories of recycling . There is no aircon in the villa , and many mosquitoes are attracted into the hot bedrooms at night , and the pool area , by the extensive vegetation surrounding.
The sofa cover was thoroughly washed and dried using the villa`s machine , and any blemish was removed before leaving . Perhaps the cleaners chose to repeat this wash ? The owner Daniel Sauter repeats tirades about "additional cleaning expenses " but he refuses to submit any such evidence . He can claim an additional Euros 2000 for the normal use of this villa....and basic cleaning after...
