We stayed for 5 nights in room 5 which had the most amazing balcony / terrace with an amazing view of the lake.||From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the lovely receptionist, who we unfortunately didn't get her name, we knew that we had made the right decision to book the Villa Maria. We were taken on a tour of the villa which is a magnificent building. We loved our room !!! It was spacious, bright and spotless with a fantastic shower and beautiful tiling throughout. There was small added touches such as the chocolate on the pillow and local biscuit treats on arrival.||Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the lake and included fruit with local meats, cheese, pastries, breads, chutney and jam. Your preferred fresh coffee is prepared to order and water and fruit juices are available on the terrace.||We booked a parking space as part of our booking and it was a private garaged parking space which was right beside the villa entrance operated via a key fob to allow you to enter and exit at your own convenience.||We have stayed in many different types of accommodation including 4 and 5 star hotels all over Italy and the Villa Maria is one that we have added to our shortlist to return to.||The villa itself, the location, the staff exceeded all of our expectations. Every single member of the reception, housekeeping and breakfast staff we met were so friendly, pleasant and welcoming and went out of their way to do anything for you including information on the area and booking restaurants.||We loved Cannobio but don't think it would have been the same had we not stayed in the Villa Maria.||Thank you to all at the Villa Maria for a wonderful stay. We are looking forward to going...
Read moreI had booked a 5 night stay here through booking.com. I received an email literally a couple of hours before check in to inform me that the place was overbooked. They didn’t even reply to the direct enquiry online that I had sent them, or the parking request via booking.com. Fortunately I managed to book into the very lovely Park hotel Belvedere that replied promptly to my enquiry during a very stressful drive to Cannobio. I called by the hotel later to check that I wouldn’t be charged for the stay as I hadn’t received any cancellation of the booking from either the hotel or booking.com and barely got an apology from the unpleasant lady on reception. I even had to wait while they dealt with the check in of the person who arrived after me.The receptionist seemed to think she was doing me a favour directing me to the tourist office. Thankfully it was low season and I could find alternative accommodation. Very unpleasant experience all round. Of course I didn’t actually stay there so couldn’t write a review on booking.com so they have very high rating which certainly wasn’t...
Read moreI loved this boutique hotel on the shores of Lago Maggiore in Cannobio! I didn't want to leave.
Location: It is right on the edge of the main promenade, so it is easy access without the crowds or noise.
The staff were always friendy, helpful and attentive. A wonderful experience.
The room: The place was spacious and clean. A nice relaxing place to just hang out. We loved having a little kitchenette. One night we bought fresh pasta from a store in town and sat right out on the shores eating dinner in our own little paradise. Amazing and enchanting.
Parking: There seems to be free parking right in back of the hotel, but we opted for a paid parking spot in their garage. There are 4 spaces.
The town: Cannobio is a special place. There are not junky tourist Shops with cheap tee shirts, postcards, magnets and other obnoxious stuff. It has managed to maintain the charm and character of an Italian Villa. Everyone was friendly and not pushy or rude to the tourists. What a...
