Booked as a luxury retreat, therefore had slightly higher expectations compared with any other regular accommodation. The mobile home is not really different in comparison to other mobile homes, offered by the Union Lido camping site. I’d even say, that they are slightly smaller than other objects on the site. Especially in both bedrooms, the gap between the bed and the door is very narrow, there is no space to store your luggage. At least the cabinets offered enough space for storing clothes. Yet no storage space for the provided broom, mop, and the drying rack, which permanently gad to be stowed away in one of the two available shower cabinets. Kitchen is equipped moderately, and provides the most basic equipment. Being in Italy, we prepared ourselves, some pasta one night. 2 different pots and a frying pan available, of which one pot was too small and couldn’t be used on the stove as the induction stove didn’t recognize it. 1 medium sized pot, but no large sized pot for spaghetti. Stove is not very well powered and takes quite some time to boil the water too. After preparing the spaghetti, even noticed, that quite some heat is released to the kitchen drawer underneath,…so not very sure about the safety aspect either. Kitchen only consisted of 4 knives, 5 regular spoons, 2 or 3 tiny espresso spoons and around 7 or 8 forks. 5 (glass) cups, but 4 matching saucers. 1 useable knife for preparing vegetables, cutting meat etc. 4 small bowls, etc etc. Coffee machine seemed very basic, and only runs on “Caffitaly” capsules which are provided on the camping site, but harder to find in supermarkets outside the camping. Nespresso and Dolce Gusto capsules are very common in supermarkets around the site and presumably these machines are used more often in households. No clue why the camp management chose for the Caffitaly (cost?). Hot water can run out, if you shower too long. When booking through Booking.com, it stated that free parking was available. After booking, I received the detailed information, that they offer a valet service, which parks your car outside the camping (wasn’t doable for me and my car insurance, as of course a third person takes your car away). You can book parking space right next to the mobile homes, at an additional cost of €35 per day. Their own website even states it is €30 per day, which speaks for the general eye on detail (outdated information). Booking any services in advance through their scidoo app is a pain and really not very user-friendly. Private space on the beach, wasn’t included either, but offered at 25€ per day, as we were informed that due to terms of conditions this only was included from mid of May onwards. Had the chance to chat with two members of staff/service which deserve 5 stars for their friendliness and awareness. All in all, I wouldn’t rate it has a luxury experience, but rather moderate facility, coming with extra/hidden costs. I would choose differently if I were to travel...
Read moreJust returned from Luxury Camp in Union Lido as a family of 5. We stayed in Mirror 3 accommodation which was fully equipped high standard with all that we needed. The proximity to the water park and beach was close by and the additional foc taxi service provided by luxury camp an added bonus. A special shout out to Patrick and all other luxury camp team for their attentiveness during our stay - all union lido staff we met were a pleasure to deal with. Food onsite was tasty also and on par with Irish prices. Would highly recommend staying here. Some considerations - it would be good to have more English speaking TV channels - only BBC and CNN available. Also be prepared for the Mosquitoes! Even with sprays, bracelets and citronella candles and oils - we were still bitten - they are a nuisance here and the only negative really - the mixed weather did not help! We were told end of June onwards when weather conditions are hot - it is not such an issue (not the camp’s fault but something to be aware of) Union Lido camping have great facilities and kids had a ball - the Luxury camp appeared to be one of the nicest accommodation onsite - we look forward...
