We came for a one-week hiking and ferrata trip, and were really looking forward to our stay here for relaxing every night after a long hike in the Dolomites. We booked a junior suite hoping for a great balcony view of the mountains, but all we got was a small window overlooking them.
Whilst the room was very comfortable, unfortunately it was a bare-bones room, with no amenities whatsoever. No tea, no coffee, no kettle - nothing.
There was no ventilation in the room (air conditioning ) , so it got very hot and stuffy at night. Moreover, the hotel is situated on the edge of the road and the constant noise from the cars as well as loud music playing in the hotel premises (!) meant we couldn't even open the windows for air!
The shower lights were operated by movement sensors, and kept switching off despite there being a person in the shower. This meant most showers were taken in the dark.
Service at breakfast and the spa by the two ladies there was excellent (they were really very nice and helpful!), but unfortunately the person manning the front desk was the exact opposite - extremely unfriendly and not helpful. It was as if he didn't want us to be there!
The menu cards for the breakfast were not kept on the table, so we were not aware of the extra charges for eggs at breakfast (which inclusive breakfast charges extra for eggs?!?). The ladies at breakfast kept pushing us to order eggs without informing us that they were extra, and so we did. It was only at the checkout were we told that eggs were extra (EUR 10 per person!!), and despite me complaining that I was not informed, the man at the reception forced us to pay.
How this is a 4-star hotel, I have no idea! This is a 3-star at best! And why this hotel has such high reviews, I will never know. All I know is that I wont be coming back here (I will be coming back to Madonna every...
Read moreWe had a mixed experience with this hotel .Any pros and multiple downsides . Pros: -the staff at breakfast was amazing and polite . -limited breakfast choose but the quality of products was outstanding -location of hotel is very central and accessible -spa within the hotel was good
Cons: -we booked a junior suite hoping for great views of the mountainside , but all we got was a tiny window for the view -there was no cooling in the room and it was extremely warm and stuffy at night , but if we opened the windows the sound from the road and cars passing by was extremely loud and disturbing . -no amenity of fans within the room was provided -the floor of the shower cabinet was cracked -no amenity or provision for kettle for tea or coffee within the room -the breakfast was good but I have never been charged for eggs (€10 per egg !!!) separately , every standard hotel included eggs within their “breakfast included” . There was some inconspicuous sign at breakfast which none of us saw which supposedly claims that eggs were charged for . The staff at breakfast did not inform us that eggs would be charged either . We realised this only at the time of the check out. -the older gentleman at the reception was cold , unhelpful and borderline impolite . However the younger man at the reception was welcoming and helpful. -the bathroom lights are operated by motion sensors , which suddenly went off whilst one was still taking a showe -there is constant disturbance of music , road noises etc as the rooms are so stuffy and keeping the windows open to cool room down only makes it impossible to rest or sleep . This may not be an issue in winter as it’s too cold and the hotel would most likely have heating on . For having paid approx €230 per night , it was worth none of it . All in all, I wouldn’t stay...
Read moreI have just returned from a week long ski holiday at the Maribel Hotel and I can only describe my experience there as absolutely perfect. It felt like home - cosy, comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere. Food was exceptional - starting with quality breakfast, great coffee, delicious eggs made to order, fresh bread and pastries. Afternoon snack with a selection of little sandwiches, warm soup and cakes was a lovely after-ski recharge. And then the dinners - every evening we had a superb 4 course menu a'la carte to choose from and every dinner was absolutely delicious. ||The hotel also offers excellent shuttle mini bus to the city centre, or to the ski lifts and back - always very punctual and at your disposal whenever you wish. Great ski storage too and a cosy little Spa with a pool. ||Rooms - super clean and comfortable. Big thank you to the housekeeping team who kept the room at highest standard, made sure towels were changed twice a day. The evening turndown service was a lovely addition.||There is also a ski bus stop directly in front of the hotel but the nearest ski lift is literally 2 min walking distance. The hotel is also close to a very good ski school.||||But what made the whole stay most memorable is the people working in the Maribel. The ever so kind and helpful Reception Team - ready to answer every question with patience and smile. The absolutely fantastic restaurant team with Maurizio and Francesco and everyone else - kind, funny, helpful, always remembering your favourite drink and assisting to every request one may have, taking care of their Guests with greatest care! Really, I cannot say thank you enough to everyone there!||||I would recommend this hotel to everyone planning a trip to MdC. I cannot wait to be back there - be it again in winter or summer! Thank...
