We had a three night stay at Casa Visnenza as a family. ||We travelled from Malpensa - hiring a car in advance. Avis had a good choice and they we located just outside the terminal. Take some change with you for the tolls and don't forget to take your ticket from the machine. ||Capo di Ponte is about 2 hours away from the airport. The location is picture perfect - mountains, creeks, green fields, ancient buildings, quaint villages and typical Italian architecture. What we did not realise was how relaxing, welcoming and idyllic Casa Visnenza is. ||The B&B makes you feel like you are in the heart of things and Massimo and Martzia are two of the nicest B&B owners I have ever met. They made us feel at home; welcomed our intrusions when we needed something and gave us all the tips that we needed to have a great holiday. ||Breakfast is served on one long table with all guests eating together. This is great as we had the chance to meet some interesting people, eat some great food and enjoy homemade cake and jams from Martzia.||The area is great for walking - it's hilly, so don't bother with a pair of heels! There are some choices for restaurants, but if you have a car, there are plenty of villages close by if you want to extend your choice .La Pieve - a restaurant near the B&B do a nice steak and its reasonably priced. Do explore everywhere in Capo Di Ponte - everyone is friendly and looking to help, but do explore. I found that every corner I turned the view was even more beautiful than the last - crazy but true!||We used the train - which is easy. Decide where you want to go, pay on the train and you are set. Even the train journey is picturesque! ||We visited the island of Monte Isola. It was an easy train ride - 6 stops - and there were boat trips to the small island every 20 minutes (5 Euros). Everything was perfect! ||Travelling back to Malpensa, just make sure that if you have hired a car, that you fill up about 10km before the airport. We left it too late and had to come back out. Even that was not too bad as it was only 3km down the road with an easy access road back towards...
Read moreThis BnB must be the best place around Capo di Ponte.||We were there now for the second time and it always feels like coming home to the family.||The owners are extremely kind and super helpful with any tipps about the whole area.||The rooms are very rustique in a very old building but absolutely clean and comfortable. The bathroom is quite big and modern.||Breakfast ist wonderful with a good selection of local and home made products.||You sit all around one big dining table which makes you conversate with the other guests from all around the world. Feels a bit like a big family.||In walking distance (10 minutes) there is a lovely Pizza restaurant ("La Pieve") which is perfect for dinner.||||The Casa Visnenza is a little difficult to find.||When you come by car: FORGET the routing directions from Google or other navigation systems!!!!!!!!!||They navigate you through the smallest narrow streets where you easily end up stuck between the walls.||There is a bigger road through a tunnel north-east from that little church on the very top of the village. Go through that and then follow the sign "Casa Visnenza" uphill all the way to the little church.||Only in that area in front of the little church you can park the car and need to walk downhill to the BnB (50 meters).||I have attached a picture showing a Google map with the correct...
Read moreThis large period house is a bit hard to find, and you'll be grateful you chose a small hire car as you drive up through the extremely narrow streets (go right up to the top of the village and park in the square beside the small chapel). But once you find it, it is a gem! Super-friendly and helpful hosts, and a beer and snack to welcome us. We had a charming peaceful twin room upstairs, with gorgeous period furniture, and a massive cool bathroom, overlooking the garden, with the sound of the rushing river. There is a huge common room downstairs, with tea and coffee making facility. Wi-fi reception didn't extend to the bedroom or common room, but was fine in the spacious hall (where the mewling new-born fluffy kittens charmed us). The breakfast was truly amazing; speciality local baked goods, homemade cake, fresh rolls, 4 different homemade preserves, 2 sorts of local honey, fresh fruit, delicious salami and local cheeses, cereals and biscuits, juice and lots of tea and...
