We stayed as a group of four in three bedrooms.||There are two ways into the hotel. Both are very steep in parts. The main drive is icy, but gritted and mostly free of snow. Its a good 5 minute walk from the main road and there is not a pavement to walk on from the roads so you do have to beware of cars when taking this route. The second route is the fastest way to get to the main road/town/slopes. However, it is hilly and icy and you have to be very careful.||There are three lifts, all of which go to the six floors with bedrooms (above the reception) and the American bar and kids area on the lower floor. There are about 30 rooms on each floor. Half of them have views of the Hotel Grand Paradiso and slopes, and the other half have views of the glacier.||The bedrooms look pretty much as advertised. There is plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom is not very private. This was not an issue for my party, as the only people sharing a room in my party was my husband and myself, but if you are haring with a friend it is something to keep in mind. The shower is separated from the bedroom by frosted glass. In some rooms, the glass isn't frosted the whole way up, so someone fairly tall can see over the glass into the shower and toilet. The door to the bathroom is also frosted. Enough plug sockets to satisfy most people, although you would have to unplug the lamps to use the bedside plug sockets. Most TV channels are in Italian, as expected. Bathrooms have soap, shower gel/shampoo and body cream that are restocked as necessary. There is also a hairdryer in the bathroom. The safes did not work in any of the three rooms. The thermostat is also stuck at 24-26 degrees Celsius, which given the altitude, makes the air feel very dry and stuffy.||Housekeeping are good and will come and change your towels, make the bed and restock toiletries daily. ||You will be allocated a table that you will eat all meals at for the duration of your stay. If you have multiple rooms, it is a good idea to inform reception at check-in so you'll be put on the same table. Some tables are in a great location by the huge windows, but some are rubbish, such as by the ski room door or near the buffet stations.||Breakfast is disappointing. Every day is the same, with scrambled egg (overcooked and almost spongy in texture), really thin 'bacon' which is undercooked, and hot-dog style sausages for the hot options. There is a toasting machine. Cold options include cornflakes, coco pops, croissants, pastries, ham, salami, cheese, bread rolls, salad and biscuits. Apple juice and red orange juice is available every day, with the third juice alternating between ace (carrot, lemon and orange) and pineapple juice. Breakfast is served between 7.45 and 9.00, which does not leave much time if you want a lie-in, or if you have a 9.00am ski lesson.||Dinner is much better. There are a few different salads and bread rolls for starters. The first course has two different pastas every night, with plain pasta and a basic tomato sauce always available every night. The second course is usually a meat/potato/vegetable combination, with two different meats normally available. I think there was fish two nights a week. Desert is usually a cake (sponge and cream), but is sometimes mini pastries like eclairs. There is no free water or wine with the meal as stated when booking through some websites. They will charge 2.80 euro per bottle of water, so do not open the water on your table unless you want to be charged for it. However dinner is served between 7.45 and 9.00pm. This is really late considering that the slopes close by 5.00pm and if you are even out skiing that long, its a long time to wait for dinner when you've worked up an appetite. ||The bar by the reception is open from 8.00am-3.00pm, after which the American Bar opens until 12.00am. The American bar serves Forst on draught, soft drinks, a range of cocktails and mocktails, hot chocolate and Bombardino, all at a reasonable price having come from London. Before dinner they sometimes serve snacks with alcoholic drinks. The snacks vary each time, but could include crisps, cheese, salami, bread bites, olives and tuna and ham sandwiches. The bar also serves Ham and cheese or salami and cheese 'paninis' (not quite panini bread as we call it in the UK, more like a panini-shaped crusty roll) for 5 euros. There is normally a singer in the bar before and after dinner, and there was karaoke once. The entertainment team are often in there dancing with the teenagers.||There is a pool table that takes a 2 euro coin and you can get the cues from reception.||You can hire a double or quad ski locker from reception for a 5 euro deposit, but this is in cash only. The ski room and lockers are NOT heated, even though they are advertised as such. The ski room is easily accessible from outside, but is in a weird location. You can only access it through the restaurant until 3.00pm, and then only from the American bar from 3.00pm. ||The nightclub and 'wellness' area were not open when we stayed.||Some booking websites advertise the hotel as being 3 minutes from the nursery slopes, but it more like a 10/15 minute walk to the nursery slopes main ski schools meeting point in your ski boots carrying your equipment.||The staff are wonderful, especially those in the bar and entertainment teams and the rooms and views are beautiful, but the lack of advertised facilities, breakfast and the weird dining times...
Read moreDuring my stay at this hotel the skiing being on the doorstep of the hotel was an amazing thing. However, the room I stayed in had hand prints on the wall? Under one of the pillowed there was something drowned brown and on one of the beds when we first arrived there was a moldy crisp. During my stay, on day 2 a sickness bug went around and the whole hotel got this sickness. I went with school and 38 out of 44 people got it. As a person, I have the biggest fear of sick and the hotel took 1 hour to clean sick up off of the floor. On day 3-4 they got to it alot quicker but this restricted me and made me have anxiety attacks frequently. The hygiene is disgusting it took until day 4-5 for the cleaners to shut off the lifts and start cleaning. The food is the same everyday and I was living off of bread and butter. I had the plane pasta one night and that’s it. The meat was so different everyday but when we I got it and cut it up it was not cooked. The chips/ wedges were verry oily and was verry hard to eat, some of the wedges were hard when but into aswell. The cleaners would just go into your room and not knock, I can understand we should of all been out skiing then but knowing the sickness bug was going around a knock would have been brilliant. The last day I was there the cleaners walked in and I only had a bra on. I ran so quick. Also I would like to point the service is shocking and there is no internet only in certain rooms. Also when we got there the sides were abit dusty which made me sneeze quite a lot. My overall experience at this hotel was shocking I would not recommend this at all unless u want to die or is your...
Read moreWe stayed here over Xmas. The staff are lovely can't do enough for you bar staff are fab. Room was lovely and clean . Heating would have been nice if it was on when we got there but it comes on thru night not sure why. Our room view was stunning over looking the glazier. When you arrive you are dropped off on road because the buses can't get to hotel so you have to walk across a field in the snow so wear boots or snow boots. Hotel is really big two bars. The American one down stairs opens at four. Till late with entertainment. There is a play area for the children. In the rooms no tea or coffee we took our own travel kettle and tea and coffee. To charge your phones you have to take the lamp plugs out. Our room had a shower would have loved a bath tho. Restaurant now choice of cooked food not the best. Continental tho was loads. Evening meal have to say disappointing the salad choice fab and desserts. But the cooked food not brill. Water on the tables well we was unsure to drink it or not.
