The location of this venerable old building in the small village of Cremia is outstanding. Whilst just off the main road along the western shore of Lake Como, we were not bothered by car, lorry or road noise. In fact, it is a most peaceful spot, a few paces from the lake shore, with marvelous views.||We were in Room 7 and enjoyed its space and view from the Juliette balcony over the lake. The bed in this room is in a separate but open raised platform, the mattress laid directly onto it. It means that you have to shuffle off the end of the bed to go down a couple of steps, cross the living room and into the bathroom. That would probably suit a couple a wee bit younger than us!||The room came with everything to make our stay comfortable. A big thank you too for feather pillows! It was also immaculately clean, which we very much appreciated. The decor is modernist and stark, but we found it fine for our three night stay. The remainder of the building has been finished to a high standard and I would go so far as to say it was charming. ||All the staff we saw and spoke to were equally charming and willing to be as helpful as they could be. Breakfast was nicely done, with more than enough to set you up for the days activities. The Baia restaurant next door provided good quality meals; we ate there two of the evenings of our stay. The underground garage was well worth the extra cost for a sense of security for our car. We did not use the pool but it was clearly a nice place to be, with quality sun loungers and sun shades.||If I were running the hotel I would install thick, large white Egyptian cotton towels instead of the thin Italian ones, though the bathrobes were actually rather nice. I would also ensure that the loo paper was thick and padded, rather than cash and carry utility thin and that all catering packs of butter, salt, pepper and so on were banned! But then I know nothing about running such establishments and those are just my pet hates about any hotel!||Overall we really enjoyed staying at Casa Olea and would recommend it as a wonderful place to enjoy Lake Como and a lovely...

Read moreWe liked - |This is a beautifully renovated building in a very quiet area of Lake Como. |Minimalist decor that works well. |The staff are friendly and helpful|Secure indoor parking (payable €10 per night)|Great breakfast (but you have to choose what you would like the day before)|Nice pool and there is a small spa area (which we didn’t use) that is payable at €45 per hour ||We didn’t like so much -|No reception after 21.00 hours|No on-site restaurant or bar BUT there is a pizzeria in the hotel next door and a fish restaurant the opposite side of the hotel to this. There is also a cute little waterfront bar a few minutes walk. |Our first night was cold and I slept in my coat because the heating / AC was off. However the next morning staff brought an extra duvet and blanket. |We stayed in a junior suite which was spacious but lacked comfort with no where to sit and chill other than on the bed. |The bed had 1 pillow each and these were hard (I’m sure we could have had extra pillows if we had asked) The bedding is linen and because of this it looked un-ironed and a bit shabby. |The towels are also linen which I didn’t like and at over £300 a night I would have liked fluffy towels. |Our patio was less than 1m wide with a tall hedge around it that obscured the lake view BUT there are rooms with bigger outdoor areas and seating. |There are no communal areas in the hotel except for the...
