Hotel Lido — Hotel in Grado

We spent one night here. To get to the room, one had to drag the bags up 10 steps to the elevator and when one got to the fourth floor, for example, one had to go up another 8 steps. Strange! ||||A smallish room, but perfectly fine for the 85 euros. It was clean, the bathroom fixtures were all new, but the very small stall shower had no place to put soap -- no soap dish, no shelf, no ledge, no nothing, so one had open the shower door to put the soap down on the bench that one had placed just outside the shower. Don’t these designers ever take showers?||||We were told at reception that we could park on the street if we could find a place, but that the woman who owned the vacant lot next to the hotel would graciously allow us to park there for 13 euros. As the street was crowded with cars, we did so, but we thought the cost was rather excessive for a small town. ||||We had booked in Grado because the hotel situation in Aquileia didn't seem very good, but I'm sure we could have found something at least...

My mother and I stayed for two nights. The room was clean, with a balcony looking into a yard. AC worked well. The hotel has a nice charm. It's been a family business for 60 years. There is an elevator which was helpful with our room on the 4th floor. Location is great. 8 minute walk to the beach. And even less to restaurants, gelato and shopping. No parking at the hotel, but the owner can direct you to where there is free parking in town. So just move the car after you unload your luggage. Grado is small, so everything can be reached by foot during your stay. For dinner, I suggest heading into the old town center. Breakfast at the hotel is good. Fresh coffee drinks, even espresso, ham, cheese, eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, jam, honey, various sorts of bread, as well as panettone and a yummy chocolate cake. Das Beste am Hotel ist die Lage. Man ist sehr schnell im Zentrum und auch der Hafen ist in 15-20 min zu erreichen. Das Hotel selber ist ok, die Zimmer sind unterschiedlich, das Bad bei uns war Top, bei meinem Sohn war es wohl noch nicht renoviert und die Dusche war supereng mit Duschvorhang, der ständig an einem klebt. In den Zimmern gibt es einen Kühlschrank, wir mussten unseren in der Nacht vom Strom nehmen, weil er lauter als die Klimaanlage war.||||Die Besitzerin ist sehr hilfsbereit und die Tochter bemüht sich sehr beim Frühstück. Das einzige das man am Frühstück wirklich bemängeln kann ist das Brot, egal welches, es war immer sehr trocken und kein Genuss.||||Zum Lift muss man sagen, dass er erst im Halbstock zugänglich ist und bis dahin 10 Treppen zu nehmen sind.||||Schade war, dass es am Abend nicht mehr möglich war sich im Hotel auf der Terrasse zusammenzusetzen, da gegen 20.00 Uhr alles dichtgemacht worden ist. ||||In Grado selber gibt es 2 Strände, der eine ist sehr flach und näher am Hotel. Zu den öffentlichen Bereichen geht man bei beiden Stränden mehr als 15 min. Liegen können online oder am Strand gebucht werden. Da bei uns, warum auch immer, schon alles ausgebucht war, haben wir immer erst Liegen jenseits der Reihe 240 bekommen, wir sind also auch ziemlich weit gegangen.||Die Zimmer auf die Straße raus sind eher laut, hinten ist es sicher besser.||||Für das Auto haben wir einen Parkplatz dazu gemietet, das war eine Garagenbox, die man zusperren konnte.
