We chose this hotel based on the other good reviews, particularly the friendliness and location, but in all honesty I wasn't overly impressed with the friendliness, it's something that let the hotel down for us. The free airport transfer for stays of 7+ days also sold it to us. The owners of this close knit family hotel were clearly very friendly to the many Italians and Germans in this hotel, many who were treated like friends, greeted with kisses and engaged in daily conversations which is great- but we got little more than a "good morning" if we were lucky. I think their English language skills were limited which didn't help, but we just didn't feel overly welcome. Even the driver who did our airport transfer, one of the owners, didn't say a word to us the entire trip in the car which was awkward; this is despite me trying to start a conversation to break the silence! The transport let us down too. The return journey was scheduled for 1pm which I confirmed with them the evening before. At 9.30am on the last day the owner came to me at breakfast and told me in broken English that we'd be leaving at 11am. I explained that this was too early as we had planned to do some shopping that morning and didn't want to be sitting in the hotel for hours but he said that he had to go somewhere else at 1pm so we pretty much had no choice. He also said we had to be out of our room at 10am, earlier than agreed. I told him this was not possible as we had yet to have a shower and pack after breakfast and 15 minutes was not long enough for this, but this was irrelevant and there was no flexibility and didn't stop them knocking on our door several times. I made them wait for the room regardless as this in my opinion was unacceptable. This spoiled our last day and the early departure meant I wasn't able to get some presents I had planned and I ended up arriving at the airport before bag drop off desks had even opened and sitting around for hours with my teenage children moaning, bored out of our brains! So whilst the free airport transfers are good in theory, our experience wasn't a great one. I would rather have paid for a taxi had I known hey were going to mess me around. It was also clear he was rushing on the return journey too as he drove very quickly and was overtaking constantly which was a little un-nerving!||||On appositive note, the waitresses in the restaurant were very friendly and spoke better English and were much more attentive than the owners. They were very flexible and accommodating with my daughters eating requirements too. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I don't usually eat in hotels as I like to try different places but found many of the restaurants in Jesolo very samey and kind of fast-food Italian, not home cooked or authentic and the service in the restaurants was appalling (I'll come to that in a minute) but the hotel food was home cooked and the most authentic food we ate all holiday and for $10 per person for an evening meal it was excellent value. The salad buffet that comes with the meal was brilliant too, very tasty and lots of different dishes including pastries and potatoes.||||The actual hotel is basic but then it's a 3 star so that's to be expected. It was very clean and the rooms were cleaned every day so no complaints there. The bathroom wasn't great. It was clean but the shower was like a vertical coffin, you couldn't even lift your arms up to wash your hair without banging your elbows or unintentionally turning the shower off every time you moved. It was about 70cm square, ridiculous(see the photo I've added) and flooded every time we used it. The hotel was very quiet, there is a small bar but no one was ever there and there was constantly religious programmes on the TV in the lounge with the hotel owners watching it so not really used by guests. If you're looking to socialise in the hotel, this is not the place for you! The pool is small but then all pools in the area were small, even the 4* beach front hotels, it seems normal for this area. The sunbeds by the pool were free and the hotel has a piece of private beach amongst the others which offers free sunbeds. Many hotels charge for sunbeds, even on their private patch, 8 euros each!!! so free sunbeds is a positive of this hotel! The beach is heaving, it's miles of sunbeds with each hotel having it's own area sectioned off. There is literally thousands of sunbeds for miles, busier than Magaluf!||||The hotel location is good, 2 minutes from the beach, but then most hotels in Jesolo are along the beach front as its all residential further back, so you'd struggle to find a hotel not in a good location. It's a huge resort, probably 3+ miles of seafront hotels/shops/bars, a bit of an Italian Magaluf I think, it was so busy! Walking down the main strip on a weekend evening was like battling through Oxford St, all the locals come to drink and eat and it's packed for miles until the early hours. It's a resort of mostly Italians and Germans, Thomson have 3-4 hotels there so we bumped into a few English families but not many. The vibe of the resort was strange, the restaurant staff barely spoke to us, the service was poor, many didn't speak English and there was none of the usual rapport you get on holiday where people try to invite you into their restaurant, thank you for your custom and try to entice you back like on every other holiday I've ever been on! I travel on my own with the kids frequently and always get chatting to people and find a regular restaurant where the staff make the place and want to know your name etc. I felt quite lonely and unwelcome in many of the restaurants, they just weren't happy and polite and didn't seem to give a damn whether I went back or not! We often waited ages to get any service. On meeting another English family they had experienced the same thing and said how unfriendly the resort seemed in comparison to Southern Italian resorts they had been to previously. They had similar problems in their 4* hotel booked through Thomson and had even complained at a couple of bars/restaurants and walked out.||||In summary, I don't think I'd go back to this hotel or this resort! It's convenient to use as a base to visit Venice but that's as far as it goes. I'm not sure any of the other hotels would be all that much better. We had a look in a few and the 4* were certainly more elegant but the pools were equally small and guests felt equally unwelcome. So I guess this hotel is no worse than any other 3* hotels over there. I just wanted a base for the beach and Venice so in theory this hotel was perfect, reasonably priced for a cheap European holiday - I think it was more the people, both hotel and in the resort that let it down, and he ridiculously busy beaches that aren't all that great, nothing like Southern Italy or even Spain for...
Read moreThis is a nice and clean hotel located very close to the beach, with its own pool and bikes available. The rooms are spacious, with balcony and plenty of space/storage space. The personnel is helpful and always trying to please the guests. Daily room cleaning with bedsheets/towels changed, on the beach there are plenty of sunbeds allocated to the hotel. I highly recommend the hotel, we had a great stay here and would definitely come back. There are only 2 things to highlight for improvement: there is no refrigerator in the room (we were with a little kid so it would have been helpful to have a refrigerator to keep water cold or for fresh fruits). Nevertheless, the owners were helpful when we asked for some ice bricks to be frozen overnight and they kept those in a freezer. The second item that in my perspective could be improved is the breakfast - when we went for breakfast, our room number was not on any table. We stayed at a table, they said we have to move. And every morning we had to ask where to stay and it was always a different table - again, the personnel is helpful and nice but it's annoying to see that room number is not on the table but others are. Finally, the actual breakfast options are very limited: 1 type of cheese + cream cheese, 2 types of ham, 1 salami, 3 vegetables, eggs (fried, scrambled, boiled), milk, yogurt, pastry etc. Only one day we had some sandwich in croissant - but at some point you get bored of all the same options. But the sweets table - delicious! we had Panna cotta in some mornings or Tiramisu, figs and strawberries once. It's obvious that the owners are trying very hard to please all the guests. It is a nice hotel and would come back. Just to mention - the price we discussed via email with the hotel was not the price we payed when we left, because the city tax (per person per night) wasn't mentioned from the beginning. So we ended paying more than we agreed via email - but still recommend the hotel for a...
Read moreHotel Jalisco is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. I say this as a frequent traveller and having stayed in many hotels. What makes a stay here so lovely is the people who are friendly, helpful, polite and professional. The hotel is family owned by two cousins, both called Domenico (although one looks like Robert de Niro,) and they run the place with a friendly air where nothing is too much trouble. The dining room is the domain of the fabulous Concetta (known as Maria) and Omaima who advise on the menu options and run it like clockwork, though you're never rushed. They are happy, friendly and hard working, but always have a smile and time to chat.||I booked as bed and breakfast, but you can add lunch and/or dinner as you go, so we would sometimes eat at the hotel, sometimes in one of the many restaurants near by. The hotel's food was delicious, never a bad meal and got to try lots of different courses that weren't always available elsewhere. Four courses for €10 pp, drinks extra and same prices as a bar. I chose Hotel Jalisco for it's central location and wasn't disappointed. It is a five minute stroll to the beach where there are reserved Hotel Jalisco loungers and umbrellas and the Aqualandia water park is only a 10 minute walk away.||The hotel pool is just the right size and there was no culture of reserving sun loungers which was a nice change. Many people seemed to go tho the beach in the morning and spend late afternoon at the pool.||Tina, one of the hotel maids does an excellent job and our room was always cleaned to a high standard with frequent bedding changes and daily fresh towels.||I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hotel Jalisco and it's one of the few places that I'd be happy to go back to. ||Thanks to all who made our two weeks such a...
