A really impressive medium size ski resort which for our visit in the first week of march was relatively quiet. We purchased a 7 day ski pass which entitled us to 2 visit's to other ski resorts in the Aosta valley. We choose courmayeur and pila. There was great skiing to suit all abilities. The valley runs would probably be better suited to intermediate skiers but less confident skiers could catch the gondola. Over 150k of skiing available in la thuile and la rosiere. As majority of runs in la thuile are north facing the snow holds up really well. The Town was lovely with a purpose built hotel and the old town. Food was really good with a good choice of restaurants and best of all really cheap in comparison with other alpine ski resorts. A coffee on the mountain was only €2. Only negative, alot of the lifts could do with modernising and the boarder crossing between la thuile and la rosiere is the longest button lift I've ever been on, surely a chairlift...
Read moreBeautiful ski area with a spectacular view on the mount blanc. With the same skipass, it's possible to cross the italian-french boarder and ski in two very nice ski areas of the Alps. Long slopes for beginners and for pros, which can enjoy also the world Cup slope in la Thuile: the Franco Berthod. The only negative note is that the ski lifts and chair lifts are a little bit old, maybe a renovation of some of them is needed. Good food both in Italy and in France with a lot of typical restaurants. The parking in la Thuile is not so big, so be there early in...
Read moreReally lovely place. I had feeling that the facilities (lifts and ski routes) were better and better maintained on the italian side while the maps and signs worked better on the french one. But in general, there were quite a lot of the long ski paths (blue and red) what was really nice. I don't know the details, but French instructors want to have monopoly and don't allow others to teach while they don't provide services in many languages and...
