We stayed at Hotel Residence Alesi for only one night even though we had booked for 3, something I have never done before, and it seemed to raise very little concern with the reception staff.|||| The Hotel is advertised as 4 star but it is very far from 4 star quality. I felt more like a lodger. The location was good and had a nice view of the lake, it was clean but the room was unbearably hot, there was no air conditioning, no fridge and no interest from reception when asked if there were facilities avaiable. I did not try the breakfast as I was so desperate to get out and find somewhere else to enjoy the rest of my holiday.||||The hotel closes down at 6.30pm and the only entry is through an underground garage, which is rather difficult in the dark, this resulted in a lot of banging about which I am sure woke other guests, as the walls are so thin you can hear every bang, door closing, toilet flush etc.||||With no fridge and no one on site after 6.30pm there is no possibility of a cold drink, so the only option is the 3km walk to the town centre. The town of Malcesine is lovely, but if you are after a relaxing break in 4 star comfort, I would...
Read moreI was a bit concerned having read the other reviews on Trip Advisor, but have to say I need not have worried. Ok so it's 3k from Malcesine, but there are regular buses. It's a family run hotel and the staff can't do enough to look after you. The hotel is very clean, food top quality and you're assured of a good night's sleep, as there's no noise. If I was to pick one thing that could be improved, it's the heat of the pool. It's a bit chilly, but perhaps this isn't such an issue later in the year. Perhaps I'm just a wimp, as my kids were in the water most of the day with no complaints. I've stayed in the best hotels around the world and appreciate that 4 star ratings can vary dramatically. However, I'd trade the pomp and ceremony of many hotels for the ambience and relaxing feel of this hotel. A...
Read moreWe attended a wedding in Malcesine and stayed at the Hotel Residence Alesi. The hotel itself was a beautiful little piece of Italy. There is no air con in the rooms but we did not find this a problem as the 3 speed ceiling fan kept the room nice and cool. The staff are all family and so nice and friendly! It is set in a quiet location and is about a 45min walk into the town along a beautiful coastal path. There is a tourist bus hourly that stops outside the hotel to take you into the town[10mins] If you want a rowdy holiday this is not for you but if you want to see authentice Italy and chill out this hotel is perfect.Lake Garda...
