We stayed at Camping Residence Atlantide in our caravan in October, initially booking for 2 nights, to see what it was like after reading some mixed reviews, and staying for 8 nights in total. The site is in a beautiful location, right next to the sea, with little sandy coves just outside the gates and nearby beaches with facilities (sunbeds, bar, toilets etc). Despite being there in low season it was very busy with camper vans staying 1 or 2 nights. Most visitors were couples and it was quiet at night. The pitches are a good size, big enough for an awning and there are parking spaces for cars. There are bushes and some trees for shade and most pitches are flat and have white gravel bases. Most of the staff are very nice and helpful, the lady on reception was very patient with my bad Italian and the elderly gentleman suggested a good hard-standing spot for our rig and was always friendly. We could see the sea from our pitch and the road noise was minimal. The campsite is a great place to explore the area - trullis, picturesque villages, beaches and itâs close to Monopoli, which has a pretty old town, bars restaurants and a very useful Eurospin (supermarket). |The attractive pool area has sun loungers (no parasols) and seems clean, without too many rules (the swim cap rule didnât seem to be enforced). We only went a couple of times as we preferred the beach since we have a small dog and the beach attendant turned a blind eye after some negotiation (dogs are not usually permitted). |There were a couple of negatives: the showers cost âŹ1 and some of them are not OK (no hooks to hang clothes, doors not locking, the smell of sewerage, water not draining, lots of hair on the floor, a blood stain that was there for 2 days.) I mentioned these to the lady in reception and there were some improvements, but they really need to invest in these facilities going forward and get the cleaner to do a thorough job. To put it into context, we have had our caravan (Abbey GTS 418) for 7 years and itâs the first time my husband has commissioned the on-board shower!|The toilets donât have seats or paper, but that is expected for a 3 star site - just take wipes and loo roll. |Correct recycling is very important, the security guard couldnât reply to my âbuon giornoâ as he was too concerned with my rubbish sack which had a few lettuce leaves and coffee grounds in. He shouted at me, rather than explaining the rules about separating humid and sec waste - there was no information leaflet explaining this when we arrived. |Despite these issues we had a really lovely stay at Camping Atlantide and will...
Read moreLast June we planned to stay at this place for two nights to explore the area. We had opted to sleep in our tent as our 4 year old daughter wanted to experience camping. On our first day we noticed signs asking to put all the laundry and pets inside as they were going to fumigate the place for insects. We raised our concerns that we will be sleeping in a tent with little or no protection from toxic spray. Albeit being promised that no fumigation would be carried out near our tent they appeared at 2.00am spraying right over our tent. We slept in the car that night to make sure our daughter was fine. When we expressed our disappointment the next day we were told that we are complaining because we did not want to pay and that we should pack and leave and never set foot again in Italy.||The place is lovely but surely not be visited because the attitude of the owner and Management which leaves nothing to be desired....
