Virginia Palace Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Monteforte Irpino

For my purposes, which was to find a hotel with a/c, free pool, good breakfast, and good internet, my rating reflected those along with the room condition. The only thing good about this hotel is that the air conditioning cranks and the cost is relatively low. We checked in yesterday and the first thing is that the mini fridge didn’t work. Then when I opened up the closet to hang up my clothes, they had WIRE hangers. (You must be joking with this). The carpet in the room is dirty and worn and I can’t hardly breathe. ( they should pull the carpeting up and put in flooring) No view from the hotel at all. Next to grocery store. Not many places to eat in town other than McDonald’s and cafe type (what I call gas station food - not tasty, and sitting out for a long period of time). The breakfast consists of hard boiled eggs, ham slices (no other meats) and one type of cheese slice only and of course the pastries. Looks like canned fruit all Mixed together, but it might be canned mixed with fresh. Definitely canned peaches. If you’re lucky you can have toast. Napkins and placemats look used. Staff extremely nice. Lobby amazing. Pool costs ten euros per person to use. Parking available outside or underground, but construction in garage so only about five cars can risk construction dust and damage. Outdoor if lucky on pavement otherwise on the gravel lot. No bell hop so you will be carrying your luggage up the stairs ( I suggest go to garage where there is a lift to unload and then park outside). Lift inside hotel. Again, staff very, very nice and helpful. They seem really sweet. Also a couple of gluten free cereals. Wifi works in room. After a fashion. But I was able to stream Netflix on the iPad. Not ONE tv channel that has English. All Italian so bring your iPad loaded with apps. Rooms dimly lit. Can’t hardly see except in daylight. Reading light near bed. If I rated on room cost, a/c and staff I’d probably give it 5 stars but all in all I have to rate based...

Even though italians can make anyone feel sooo welcome...this hotel was the opposite, it has the worst service i have ever recieved in the entire italy. The personal was very unfriendly, we had no warm water to shower, they said around 1 in the morning there should be warm water, i waited until i fell asleep. Woke up in the morning, four hours later and wanted to shower, still no warm water. But lets forget that, if you want you can enjoy during the day by the ICE COLD Swimmimgpool and pay 10€ per person, i don’t know for what, the water was too cold, we couldn’t enter im the pool, we had to go and pick up our towels from the room cuz they didn’t give you any towels and there was nobody to get you something to drink while there wrre at least 40 grad. I went yo pick up some drinks from the lobby, where i waited at least 20 minutes, after that, they offered to bring it for an extra fee to the pool!!!||The housekeeping came every day while we were resting and the room wasn’t properly isolated, very loud, i guess there is a constant noise you hear, might be from the air conditioning. We have been there to attend a wedding, the whole hotel was booked with our wedding guests, we got no discount even if we were also with the group and no discount that i slept 4 hours while waiting for water to shower, when i finally showered, there were 3 min warm water and i had to finish showering with cold water. They lied and said it doesn’t work because of the city water resources, but when we went away later that day, they were checking the water generator because the obviously had a problem.
