Stayed for 3 nights end of October in a lovely 2 bed apartment over 3 floors. Buildings are old style and picturesque. Ground floor kitchen/dining room and bathroom off it with shower, toilet and sink with mirror and hairdryer. Kitchen has fireplace (we didn't use), tv with dvd and channels ~(didn't manage to find English speaking channel), Fridge, microwave/oven and electric kettle. Our side porch had two lots of tables and chairs one dinner and one coffee plus BBQ with lovely view looking out at Lake. Bedroom one of next floor up (this had one side lake view) and bedroom 2 on top floor (this room had two lake viewing windows front and side). There are a number of apartment blocks though some may be on top of one another room wise you do not see anyone as doors are not near each other. It is very peaceful. Owner is very friendly and helpful, ring bell at reception and he will be with you in no time. Car parking is limited. You will need car to get around or scooter. This place is very high up on a hill with many a winding narrow road. It is an up hill in second gear job, though we did meet people cycling up it fair play to them. We did a supermarket shop in next town and looked after feeding ourselves. Think you can get food provided though if required. WIFI is available though you must give owner phone to put in the password. WIFI is hard to get due to mountainous area and top floor is probably the best reception area for it. Lake Maggiora is downhill from this property at beach like area about 15-20 minute walk once down to the town road itself. This lake has peddle boats and rowing ones and you can hire boats here too for the day. The lake is shallow for about 10ft in then just suddenly drops excessively and is dangerous, so be careful. We learnt this...
Read moreWe have just enjoyed a three night stay at the Residenza Erbaluna - it was absolutely wonderful in every way! We arrived and experienced the most warm and welcoming greeting from Ignazio, the owner. The B&B was fully booked and we could only secure a double room with lake view (which we were a little concerned about thinking it may be a little simple but we had absolutely no need to be!) and what a view - absolutely stunning! We were very comfortable in our double room and totally blown away as we entered the room and viewed our stunning little balcony in the sunshine. It became our relaxing haven with a glass of wine or two for three days!||||The local area is stunning and offers an opportunity to 'kick back and relax' to the full! We are keen hikers and the walk up and down to local restaurants was not an issue - although it might be for the less able. The excellent Pizzeria Bel Soggiorno was a 15 minute walk down from the Erbulana (food excellent) and if you fancy a trek further afield Hemingways on the water front is good for simple food and a great cocktail.||||We really appreciated that Ignazio served us with the most tasty breakfast in our room each morning - the most delicious croissants, fresh rolls, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, fruit juice and coffee or tea. Marvellous!||||We really couldn't think of a nicer place to stay if visiting Lake Maggiore - charming welcoming hosts, lovely breakfasts and a view to die for! ||||Thank you so much Ignazio for a...
Read moreI loved this BB, situated on top of hill in a little village of Oggebbio, opening an amazing views to Lago Maggiore. This family run small retreat is perfect for romantic escape, secluded weekend or few days to discover lake area next to swiss border. Owner's warm welcome made my weekend stay very pleasant and comfortable, providing information about local restaurants, places to see and activity in nearby villages and towns. My room with a view and a little terrace was very clean and comfortable, featuring small kitchenette, fridge and good shower, they also serve breakfast to the room on request, which can be enjoyed on the terrace. There is a picturesque trail starting just behind the house, if you like hiking. In short walking distance there is a ancient village and tiny cappella sitting on top of the hill worth visiting.||In the early mornings it is nice to walk down to the village's bar for a morning cup of coffee and newspaper, small supermercado is well stocked.||There is a plenty of parking space near the Residenza, and you definitely need a car there. Oggebio has a perfect position if you want to discover this part of Lake Maggiore, lovely towns of Cannero Riviera, Cannobio and Verbania-Palanza. I will come back and can suggest this lovely...
