Grand Hotel Certosa — Hotel in Padula

We stayed in this area mostly to visit the Certosa di San Lorenzo - so the location of this hotel is ideal. Their parking lot is directly across the street from the Certosa's entrance. The hotel itself is very modern, and the room was quite large and comfortable. Decor was modern and newish. The staff was efficient, if not particularly friendly. The breakfast was among the worst we had in Italy, which is why I knocked it down to a 3 rating. A few different sweet pastries, yogurt, and juice was about it. No meat, cheese, eggs, fresh fruit, or any of the other types of food we found nearly everywhere else in Italy. And it was served in a corner of a large, bare meeting/reception room. I would also recommend that you pass on the attached restaurant. It's also worth noting that there is no elevator, so you'll be carrying your luggage up either 1 or 2 flights of stairs depending on which floor you're on - and there was no one there who offered to help...

My wife, daughter and I arranged to stay Saturday 19th May in order that I could run the Padula half marathon on the Sunday morning. We didn't expect much and we were very surprised to find a very warm welcome and nice room. The marble bathroom although small had a nice walk in shower, the bedroom had a large balcony with nice view of the country side, and although there was a wedding reception we didn't hear any noise. We ate at the restaurant which again was a pleasant surprise, nice food very friendly and reasonable price. I saw a sign post for a swimming pool however didn't visit it so cant comment. Non trovo parole abbastanza belle per descrivere l’esperienza vissuta al Grande Hotel Certosa di Padula. È stato davvero un soggiorno indimenticabile, in un luogo incantevole dove ogni dettaglio parla di cura, eleganza e amore per l’ospitalità.|L’albergo è bellissimo, recentemente ristrutturato, moderno ma con un’anima calda e accogliente. Le camere sono spaziose e pulitissime, arredate con gusto, dotate di ogni comfort: aria condizionata, frigobar, letti comodi e un bagno grande, luminoso, curato nei dettagli, con tutti quei piccoli accessori che fanno la differenza.|Il giardino è un angolo di paradiso: ampio, ordinato, con angoli ombreggiati sotto i gazebi dove ci si può rilassare immersi nel verde. La piscina è meravigliosa, perfetta per rinfrescarsi e lasciarsi coccolare dal silenzio e dalla bellezza del posto. Anche le sale comuni sono spaziose, luminose, sempre pulite, e l’atmosfera è serena e raffinata.|Ma ciò che davvero ci ha colpiti è stato il calore umano. Noi siamo stati ospiti attraverso un’associazione che sostiene le famiglie con bambini che hanno affrontato malattie oncologiche. Nonostante non fossimo clienti paganti, siamo stati accolti con una delicatezza, una gentilezza e una dignità rare. Ci siamo sentiti come tutti gli altri ospiti, trattati con lo stesso rispetto, la stessa attenzione e – possiamo dirlo – con un affetto che non dimenticheremo mai.|Il personale è squisito, sempre gentile, sorridente, presente. |La colazione è abbondante, varia e deliziosa, e abbiamo anche avuto il piacere di mangiare al ristorante dell’hotel: gli spaghetti alle vongole erano eccezionali, uno dei piatti più buoni che abbiamo mai assaggiato.|Infine, la posizione è perfetta: l’hotel si trova accanto alla maestosa Certosa di San Lorenzo, uno dei monasteri più grandi d’Italia e il secondo in Europa.
