The Rifugio, at an altitude of 2,585 m' and is situated in a splendid panoramic position on a terrain north of the pulpit Pisciadu Lake.||||This CAI rifugio has 76 beds and offers services from mid June to Mid September. I was told that during the winter there is a bivouac here for members of the Alpine club.||||The fastest access is from Gardena pass for Val Setus , path 666. It can also be reached from Via Ferrata Brigade Tridentin in about three hours, which is accessed from the large parking lot after about 2 km from the Passo Gardena towards Colfosco.||||We arrived at Pisciadu, as part of our AV2 tour in September. Indeed, the place is on the AV2 trail. Usually one continues on the trail to Rifugio Boe through trail num. 666 for another hours 2, or from Walloon Pisciadù, trail num. 676 2.30 for hours. ||Note: In anything less than perfect summer weather this route should not be attempted. The area is prone to often violent thunderstorms. We had to run back to the refuge after 45 min of walk on to Boe. This must be taken seriously! Part of the trail entails using steel cables. Now, being attached to such cable is probably the last place you would want to be in a thunderstorm!||||The Pisciadu Rifugio offers typical CAI rifugio meals and a wide range of refreshments and some tourist items, including the Pisciadu Climbing Path T shirt and stickers. This is an excellent spot to recover from the 666 climb, and for contemplating...
Read moreThe hotel is old and nice but the service we received was not good. Behaved to us in a non-gentle and unpleasant manner as requested. Both in the restaurant service at noon when we arrived at the hotel, and also at breakfast - we really felt that they were doing us a favor by answering our request. And even when we returned after 4 hours of walking due to the snow blocking the continuation of route 666, and we asked for help with ordering a taxi to Passo Porodoi, they barely answered me when I contacted the staff, they were unkind and completely ignored me as if they didn't know me and we hadn't stayed here until that morning. Even if I was a person who is just passing by, I should receive respectful treatment and service. In conclusion - we were very disappointed with the service at the hotel!! We did not receive such service the rest of our trip.

Read moreThe most important thing you need to know about Refugio FRARA is that the only accepted method of paying is cash (and maybe gold and precious stones). If you rely on paying with your credit card or EC-Card you'll face a serious problem, since he owners are very hard set on not accepting any other form of payment (also they are not the nicest of people). Keep in mind that there is no ATM machine closer than 20 min drive. The rooms are nothing special and could do with some renovations. The food reasonable priced but don't expect too much. The ingredients are cheap and there isn't any love lost on preparing the dishes either. Service though was friendly and fast. The drinks seem overpriced, with beer costing more than in any high and remote mountain lodge on the Alte Vie Dolomiti. If you have to stay here the place will do for a night, but don't forget to bring...
