Hotel Schwarzenstein — Hotel in Pustertal - Val Pusteria

A lovely family run destination hotel in Luttach / Lutago. ||Positives||+ Very modern & stylish|+ Fantastic spa and swimming facilities - the adults only rooftop pools are incredible|+ Food is very good, particularly at dinner with the 5-7 course menu |+ Very well thought-out ski / parking facilities - every room has its own parking space below ground. The ski shuttle stops right outside the ski boot locker & the ski room has great kit drying lockers. Really simple to get on and off the slopes - the hotel is just a 5 minute shuttle bus trip to the Speikboden cable car.|- Good kids club for the under 7s|- Well appointed rooms, generous in size|- 60m long waterslide with timer that the kids loved|- Fantastic indoor / outdoor pools|- Really friendly helpful staff||Suggestions for small improvements||- larger bath towels for rooms|- Rooms / hotel generally can feel a bit too hot in winter - you don't need to bring warm clothes for the hotel & will most of the time be in a robe / slippers (bring your own sliders / flip flops)|- bed linen / pillows are synthetic - I expect to be able to launder them easily but it does make you a little hot at night|- the first family room we had was close to a lift and you could hear it operating - reception quickly moved us to a garden room which was blissfully quiet|- the kids menu could benefit with a little bit more variety for fussy kids - thin pizza, burger etc, maybe?|- there could be some better entertainment in the juniors room (currently just a PS4 and an Xbox). Maybe a couple of retro arcade consoles, an air hockey or a light up touch wall to keep older kids busy after they've eaten dinner and their parents want to be left alone (the playroom is geared up to younger children)?||Overall a really impressive destination hotel. It is clear that the family management are working very hard to make sure guests have a lovely stay. Christmas here was lovely - Santa in the bar giving out gifts (you need to provide to reception in advance) and a brass section playing hymns during dinner. Das Hotel gehört definitiv in eine Spitzenrangliste und zwar der schlechtesten Hotels die es gibt.

Der Empfang war unterkühlt, hier fehlt es an Leidenschaft und Herzlichkeit. Eindruck war, dass wir der Rezeptionistin lästig waren, daher Abfertigung im Schnellformat.

Die Qualität und Präsentation des Essens war unterirdisch, hatte den Anschein, dass nur das Billigste angeboten wurde. Meine Mutmaßung, auch gerne mal nicht mehr ganz so Frisches, da dies im Handel sehr, sehr günstig angeboten wird und sich hier auf Kosten der Gäste sehr viel einsparen lässt. Unser Kind wollte dort partout nichts essen, obwohl er sehr gerne isst, aber eben nur sauberes und qualitatives Essen.

Desweiteren, der absolute Hammer, verschimmelte Früchte in der Obstschale beim Frühstück und Bedienungen schauen hin und gehen einfach weiter. Wenn so etwas in der Küche nicht auffällt, heißt das zwangsläufig, dass das Obst nicht gewaschen wird und den Gästen ungewaschen angeboten wird.

Mittagessen war ein absoluter Witz, eine Suppe, sonst nur Salat und bisschen Wurst und Käse. Es gibt ein warmes Gericht nur zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit. Von "Luxus" weit und breit keine Spur.

Auch das Abendessen leider nicht besser, viel grosse Show auf der Karte, nix dahinter und Geschmack hat man ”suchen“ müssen. Auch die Zusammenstellung der einzelnen Gänge lässt auf eine gewisse Konzeptlosigkeit und Verwirrtheit schließen. Aufwachen liebe Küche, ihr seid in Südtirol!!! Hier gibt es so viele tolle, gesunde sowie bekömmliche Produkte von kleinen Betrieben. Da brauchts bestimmt auch keine Eier aus der Legebatterie.

Der Service lässt insgesamt zu wünschen übrig, es fehlt an gewisser Aufmerksamkeit und auch hier das Thema der Herzlichkeit. Der Tisch wird in der Art eines Fließbandes abgefertigt, richtig Zeit wird sich für den Gast nicht genommen, mit Ausnahme es geht um Umsatzgenerierung.

Zimmer war ok, nur die Kissen und die Matratze war eines "Luxushotels" nicht würdig. Kann aber auch Masche sein, dass der Spabereich angekurbelt wird nach dem Motto: make your own customers. Eine Frechheit war, dass es nichts zu trinken gab im Zimmer, ausser eine Karaffe mit der Aufschrift ”Ahrntaler Quellwasser“, was nichts anderes war als verchlortes Leitungswasser. Geht's eigentlich noch? Dazu kam, dass sich die Raumtemparatur nicht regeln ließ und die zimmereigene Sauna nicht funktionierte, was in der Preisklasse ein absolutes no go ist. In jedem guten Hotel werden Funktionen (vor allem mit denen geworben wird) vor Vergabe des Zimmers überprüft, anscheinend aber nicht im Schwarzenstein.

Checkout in derselben kühlen Art und noch nicht mal gefragt, ob alles gepasst hat, spiegelte eine gewisses Desinteresse wider. Auch nicht nach der Stornierung des Trinkgeldes, nachdem der Service beim Frühstück wiederholt schlecht war, sowie der Ablehnung des Abschiedsgeschenkes an der Rezeption… das sagt eigentlich alles über das Hotel und auch sein Management aus, Klasse kann man nicht kaufen, die hat man, oder eben nicht.

Fazit: Ein Möchtegern-Luxushotel, das die Definition von Luxus sehr eigen auslegt. Leistung, Qualität und Preisniveau passen nicht zusammen. Sieht eher nach einem Papierluxushotel aus, das den Namen "Luxus" nicht verdient und eher auf maximalen Profit ausgelegt ist. Es gibt viele andere Hotels in der gleichen Preiskategorie, die das wesentlich besser können und die ihre Gäste zu schätzen wissen sowie sich tatsächlich um das Wohlbefinden kümmern und keine Wünsche offen lassen. Wer das einmal erlebt hat, wird mit Sicherheit nicht in dieses Hotel fahren wollen. Gut, dass wir das Hotel nur für eine Nacht auf der Durchfahrt gebucht haben, sonst müssten wir unseren Aufenthalt kurzfristig abbrechen.
