On April 24, 2025, I left on an unforgettable journey from McAllen, Texas, to Rome to celebrate my birthday. With eager anticipation, I planned my stay and couldn't wait to explore the beauty of Tuscany, especially my destination: Castello delle Serre, affectionately dubbed "The Castle." It is in the village Serre di Rapolano, which is close to Siena and a short distance from Chianti, Florence, Montalcino, Montepulciano, and Pienza. My stay at the Castle was originally 7 nights; however, on the day I was going to check out, I extended it for 2 more nights. The best part of my birthday celebration was my decision to stay at the Castle for 9 nights. ||In researching hotels in Tuscany, I found a review by Cindy Chupack, a travel enthusiast who described her perfect stay at the Castle, while visiting Tuscany. She described how Kaci and Anthony, managers/owners of the Castle helped her and her daughter plan their days while in Tuscany. Each day, Kaci and Anthony helped them plan day trips to different locations within Tuscany, including helping them make dinner reservations at great restaurants. I felt drawn to the Castle. Cindy's words painted a picture of relaxation and beauty that was impossible to resist. Additionally, I came across various travel agencies that strongly recommended the Castle—undeniably, it felt like a sign. Without hesitation, I booked my stay in the enchanting Tower Suite.||When I arrived at the Castle on April 27, 2025, I was warmly greeted by Anthony and Kaci. Anthony drove my car to the private parking lot, while Kaci escorted me to my Tower Suite. Although I had seen photos on the Castle's website, the reality was breathtaking—a truly magical place.||My Tower Suite was extraordinary, stretching across three stories: the first floor featured a cozy living room and bathroom; the second floor, a luxurious bedroom with stunning views of the Castle and surrounding village of Serre di Rapolano; and the third floor boasted a private patio with lounge chairs, perfect for soaking in the serene atmosphere and reflecting on the blessings of life.||I found my experience from the beginning, amazing . Each morning, I enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor patio, taking in the stunning Tuscan countryside. I savored the fragrance of orange blossoms, listened to birds chirping, and delighted in indulging my taste buds with cappuccinos and a decadent chocolate croissants, often followed by a sumptuous breakfast of eggs, prosciutto, and cheese.||I spent my mornings in the present moment, soaking in the beauty of my surroundings. It was very relaxing and amazing. I was so proud of myself for being in the present and taking in the beauty surrounding the Castle. Afterward, I would chat with Kaci, who always had great recommendations for sightseeing and where to dine. As my trip unfolded, I had the pleasure of meeting Priscilla and Martha, who joined me for the final days of my adventure. Together, we enjoyed delightful dinners at the Castle and nearby, where the exquisite food and wine added to the perfection of the experience.|This trip not only celebrated my birthday but also provided me with unforgettable memories and connections that defined my Tuscany experience. The hospitality, the breathtaking landscapes, and the joy of sharing meals with newfound friends made this journey truly special.||Kaci and Anthony made my trip joyful and fulfilling. They treated me like a cherished friend visiting their home, the Castle, where every moment felt special. I am excited to become a returning hotel guest, planning to return at least once a year, especially to stay in their new hotel when it is completed in Southern Italy. Tuscany, with its wonders and my wonderful new friends—Anthony, Kaci, Pricilla, and Martha—has left a lasting mark on my heart and soul. I highly recommend a long stay...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Castello 19 years ago for lunch on a bus tour, and I always dreamed of going back "someday." Well, "someday" occurred in April, my dream came true, and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more. From the moment we arrived, Kaci and Antonio made us feel like family. They and their staff did everything they could to make our 8-night stay an immersion into Tuscan culture and history by planning each day for and with us including must-see sights and off the beaten path places of beauty in the Tuscan countryside. For those not comfortable venturing out on their own, Kaci and Antonio have a network of drivers and guides who will help you navigate at a privately negotiated price. They programmed our phones and auto navigation systems and made dining reservations for us--even ordered our pizza one night when we were too tired to go out. One of their staff got us into a restaurant that was "full" by talking to the owner while at church on a Sunday morning. She had overheard we wanted to go there. Castello is a beautiful property centrally located to visit many of the most popular medieval Tuscan towns. The grounds are beautiful with a tasteful pool surrounded by pergolas draped with wisteria and lounge chairs, all surrounded by a medieval fortress with vestiges of 15th century cannonball fire! Our rooms were sparkling clean and appointed with all of the modern amenities to make us very comfortable--plenty of hot and cold running water with great water pressure, very comfortable heating and air conditioning, and a very comfortable bed. The view from our suite was breathtaking. Our morning breakfast was a pleasant surprise with many delicious items to choose from. Kaci and Antonio offer a 4-course meal with wine a few times during the week. Do not miss that as it is about as authentic a home cooked Italian meal as it gets. The staff is above and beyond friendly and attentive. There are 4 delightful restaurants within a very short distance of Castello. Before you go be sure to watch the video of the "digging out" and restoration of Castello by Salvatore who along with his son, Antonio and Antonio's wife Kaci, made it into the charming medieval castle/hotel it is today. I can't think of one negative comment about Castello. One must have a car to take advantage of Tuscan sightseeing. Also, one must be respectful of the local customs of Italy with respect to their dining and...

This is one of our best hotel experiences ever! Our room (no 124) was spacious and nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The bed was Queen size and very comfortable
The location is perfect for exploring both Val D'Orcia (the most photogenic area in Tuscany) as well as the Chianti area.
The meal Salvatore made for us on our first night was the most memorable evening of our entire trip.
The breakfast was simple but excellent. We always look forward in the morning to sit on the beautiful terrace and view the countryside as we enjoyed the best cappuccino.
In summary, Costello delle serre is a very well run luxury B&B offering a very high standard of quality and personal service. I chose this accommodation based on all the extremely good Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed! We loved every moment of our stay and would highly recommend this place.
Antonio and Salvatore: We will be back again!
