Hotel Altopiano delle Rocche — Hotel in Rocca di Mezzo

My family and I stayed at this hotel on our last trip to Italy back in June of 2010. We loved our stay and had a great time during our stay. We were welcomed at our arrival by Anthony who is the owner of the hotel, Anthony speaks perfect English so it made our check in that much easier. We needed a quad room which the hotel was able to provide. If you have traveled Europe before you realize how hard it is to find a single room for a family of four. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff is very friendly and they all do their part to make your stay as uneventful as possible. The restaurant staff was able to accommodate us on a last minute basis when we wanted to invite some of our local family to the hotel for dinner. Upon arrival at the hotel with our bikes, during a cycling holiday in Abruzzo, we were greeted by a friendly smile and a warm welcome from all of the staff. We were show to a large garage were we stored our bikes overnight, which was really great. The rooms are clean an well kept, if basic. The beds are comfortable and the hotel quiet. You have a small balcony area which is always a lovely bonus. Siamo stati ospiti di questa gradevole e ben ubicata struttura circa 8 anni fà, ma tornandoci abbiamo purtroppo constatato spiacevoli cambiamenti negativi. Dopo varie telefonate di prenotazione la culla richiesta mancava nella stanza, (non conteggiata comunque nel costo finale). La camera assegnata, rumorosissima, non risultava ben pulita e molti dettagli fatiscenti; l'acqua del bagno fredda (soprattutto la doccia), piumone della culla non utilizzabilie. La mezza pensione, che appare chiaramente in economia come il resto, rappresenta il servizio peggiore: cucina arrangiata con porzioni ridotte, carni di tagli e qualità scadenti, contorni "simili" e sgradevoli, primi molto mediocri. Parlare di "presentazione" sarebbe poi inappropriato per il livello fornito. Il servizio per bambini è generalmente assente ed il menù alla carta concordato non esiste, risulta inoltre quasi sconveniente chiedere informazioni di ogni genere, purché non ci si voglia scontrare con la scortesia degli addetti. Il personale di sala è lo stesso che si occupa delle pulizie, decisamente inappropriato. Una sola carta dei vini per tutta la sala, che viene "passata", proprio come i pochi porta-formaggio, di tavola in tavola. Peccato, avevamo un ricordo...
