One of the best vacatios we had. Great gratitude to the family owning hotel. A special gratitude to Lea for attentive approach, and to Chef Rita for special dinners. Location: The location is stunning and unforgettable. Hotel is situated in unique location (altitude 2000 m), reachable by only cablecar. We arrived smooth due to being well-informed by the hotel. 360 degree panoramic mountain view. It is also perfect point for famous hiking trails where you can go before the main touristic croud due to location of the hotel. Family hotel: There is a special beauty and personal touch due to the fact that this is a family property, developing by generations. You will find a cosy museam dedicated to local culture and the story of the family. It's not easy to operate at such a high altitude being limited by accessability and seasonality. The Family owning the hotel personally do their best to make everyting work in the best possible way. This personal family touch rooted deeply in this land made us feel that we experience not just the rest at the hotel, but touching the history of generations of this land. Kitchen: We'd like to tell special words about kitchen at the hotel. The hotel provides half-board (breakfasts + dinners). Breakfasts are pleasant and cosy. Dinners really bring special touch to everyday stay. Menu changes daily, always tasty, connected to local traditions and local products, and never boring! During our 5-night stay, we could enjoy not only dinners, but several events that the hotel create to make their guests welcomed - an aperitivo in the museum of the hotel, a sweet buffet with incredible desserts on another day, a nice interesting degustation of local spirits, aperitivo on the open terrace with sunset view. We should also mention that the dinners were comfort-food, healthy and very balanced. This is very important since we stayed for a long time. Wellness: Wellness area is also very pleasant! Aspecially good after long hiking. For such a small building at such a high altitude, they could really make a nice wellness in such squizzed conditions. Attention to details: There was also a special touch of attention to the details. In our couple, I'm allergic, and the hotel carefully double-checked this issue during all our stay. Also, there were birthdays of several guests during our stay, including my own birthday - every time for birthday-guests the team made a small celebration at the dinner with a candle and a small cake. It was very touchy! People at the hotel: It was also a pleasure to meet different people from all over the world at the hotel. Somehow, due to price and location, the hotel naturally selects nice interesting people. We had very pleasant talks with several other guests who stayed the same period. Tranquility and place to rest: As the hotel is not big and has this unique location, our stay was very tranquil. Most part of the guests are 40+, all the processes are well-organized, the team is well-trained and the guests have internal culture. This all made our rest very pleasant. Even during the day there are external people at the bar and restaurant, they are well-separated from the main guests of the hotel and our rest stayed tranquil. As a conclusion: This hotel is a special place providing family hospitality at the highes level, in the very special location, and in the difficult conditions of high altitude. For us it was worth every cent we pay for our stay. We will be happy to come back. Thank you from all the heart for keeping local history of the place and opening your doors for the guests, to share this incredible place and your home with the...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the Almhotel Col Raiser for a full week during our honeymoon in mid February 2025 and had a fantastic stay. ||The hotel is perfectly located in the Val Gardena ski area at the top of the Col Raiser lift at 2,100 meters / 6,800 ft. Note: the hotel is only accessible via the Col Raiser chairlift (hotel provides parking in the P2/P3 lots by the base of the lift). Staying on the mountain allowed us to skip the morning lines and evening apres ski chaos. While the Almhotel Col Raiser is a busy hutte during the ski day, after ~4:45pm when the Col Raiser lift closes, the inside and outside eating areas clear out and make for a cozy and quiet place to have a drink and watch the sunset over the Seceda (the most scenic peaks in the dolomites) and surrounding mountains. The bar can make any of the Apres ski classics and the Tiramisu and Strudel are both incredible.||The hotel is run by a family (Schenk) who have a small staff -- it's a super cozy experience where you will meet and get to know the entire staff. They were all so kind and welcoming, eager to help us create a special vacation and happy to answer any questions. The rooms are beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean, and offer nice vistas of the surrounding scenery. The hotel is equipped with a large spa which includes a large sun room, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and pool which was perfect for winding down after a long ski day.||The hotel is perfectly located for skiers seeking to have a full dolomites experience. The hotel is ski in / ski out, with access to the Seceda lifts (passage to Ortisei and Alpe di Suisi) as well as the Ronda Express (ski train) which will take you to St. Christina where you can start the Sella Ronda. We were easily able to complete the Sella Ronda with time for a leisurely lunch at any mountain hutte.||Finally the staff and meals... just wow! ||Our favorite part of the trip was the food. The kitchen and bar are stupendous. The breakfast spread is fantastic with a wide array of breads, meats, eggs, fruit, yogurt, croissants, juices, etc. Every morning, you get to choose your courses from a 4+ course dinner. You then dream about the food all day and come dinner time, get to enjoy a fantastic meal. The cuisine is varied -- you'll experience a broad variety of Tyrolean cuisine, as well as Italian and German classics. The execution of the kitchen is perfect with beautiful presentations and little surprises every night that make the dinners more special. We ate lunch at all of the most highly-rated huttes around the broader Sellaronda area and the dinners at the Col Raiser were the best meals we...
