We enjoyed our stay as the property is clean and in a beautiful quiet location near a stunning beach but we were not given the rooms we booked and did not experience the gracious hosting other reviewers have noted.||Having read reviews (on booking.com), I booked one sea view room and one superior room. The sea view rooms are small and adjacent to the breakfast area so very noisy early in the morning. The superior room is much larger and on lower floor. We arrived after visiting Venice, Florence & Rome so I knew we'd need some R&R. The hotel proprietress knew our arrival time of 9:30 pm to Tropea station as I had asked her if we'd be able to get a taxi from the station (taxis do not wait at station & must be called). She provided taxi number and we did as she instructed, calling taxi from the train but taxi told us to call back once arrived at station, which we did. While waiting for the taxi, at 9:40 pm I get a text from her asking if there is a problem and I explained that we were waiting for the taxi. Upon arrival the residence, she was clearly irritated by our "late" arrival -- 9:50 pm! -- and showed us to our rooms, both of which were sea view rooms right next to the breakfast area which I had intentionally avoided for me and my husband as other reviews mentioned they were noisy (college age kids traveling with us are used to dorms/communal housing & sleep through anything). The sea view rooms are small and very cramped, esp number 7 which has a tiny bathroom and absolutely nowhere to put a roll-on except on the floor. I knew this was not the room I booked but no point in speaking up as she had clearly given our room to other guests.||Aside from this our noisy small room and being woken super early three mornings in a row by breakfast prep, it was a lovely place to stay. We absolutely loved the nearby beach and found the walk down and up enjoyable and good exercise but it is fairly steep in certain areas and rocky/sandy/slippery so not for everyone. The pool was a welcome refreshing dip after hiking back up from the beach. Breakfast was ok, not great but not bad, consisting mostly of baked goods both savory and sweet along with refrigerated boiled eggs, cold cuts and melons. However, the breakfast staff were super friendly and helpful, a very welcome contrast from the proprietors. I think it would have been a much more pleasant place to stay had they been even a slight bit friendly but as they have a small child, it appears running a bed and breakfast is understandably a lot.||One thing to note: Ubers in this area were extremely unreliable. At least three times an Uber driver would accept and we'd get an arrival time, then the Uber would never show. Not up a problem when just going to dinner; Tropea is a 20 min walk, which we thoroughly enjoyed after dining there but we needed an Uber to arrive at restos on time for reservation and not all sweaty from hot walk. But we nearly missed our train to Lamezia because Uber driver never showed up. Lucky for us, grumpy Domenica drove us the 8 min ride to the train station (she was probably happy to have us gone!) after seeing us waiting outside the property for 20 mins waiting for an Uber that never arrived and frantically trying to get another driver so a huge thank you...

This location is on a beautiful hilltop outside of Tropea in a picturesque quiet location. The Villa has very comfortable and clean accommodation. Our room faced the swimming pool which we enjoyed after a day in town. The balcony overlooking the pool was spacious and the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. From this location you have an excellent view of the Stromboli volcano.|Our hostess, Domenica was very gracious and helpful. We enjoyed our daily chats. As we were travelling by train Domenica arranged for a taxi to pick us up and return to the train station when we left. The breakfast was superb with lots of selections. Dominica's staff are excellent and very kind. The beach is the best! You have to climb down the hill to access the beach. A path leads the way. We also enjoyed chatting with fellow guests at this hotel. |Tropea is a pleasant walk away, about 25 minutes. Tropea is a very beautiful spot and we enjoyed our time there. |Travellers to Tropea will enjoy staying at the Villa D'Aquino while...
