Pros|A fantastic hotel! The pool was great and very big. It was July/August and there was always plenty of space in and around the pool. They allowed the children to use inflatables too which was great.||The breakfast was brilliant and varied.||The room was clean. We had a family room and it was great for us and two children. Shower and bathroom great. Two large wardrobes too. We couldn't have asked for better. The beds were very comfy!||Free bicycles (loads of them) were perfect for getting around. We also made use of the free Padel court.||The rooftop bar was very nice. My parents ate there and had a fantastic experience with the Chef's Table. There is a full/detailed review of this under the restaurant: "Versilia Roof Bar & Restaurant by UNA cucina” but the TL;DR is that they loved it!||ALL the staff we encountered throughout our stay were all friendly and polite. It was noticeable how great they were.||The location is good - opposite the beach. But given the very very high taxi rates, you need a bike and/or public transport to travel around a bit. It was a nice 20 minute cycle to Viareggio. From there we got the train to Pisa. We also used the bus (very near the hotel) to get to Pietrasanta - but getting home late at night wasn't easy. We also hired the BIT scooters to get around once. Very easy and good value.||We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it. It really was one of the better hotels we saw in the area.||Cons|Unfortunately we were given a north facing room, which meant that our balcony was on the same side as a local outdoor music/entertainment venue. Every single night (for 8 nights) there was either live music or an outdoor cinema event, usually on until around midnight/1am. Whilst the doors blocked most of the sounds (and it didn't affect the children sleeping) it meant that once the children were asleep we couldn't make use of the balcony in the evening - which was less than ideal.||The pool bar was a little expensive too. €2 for water felt a lot given the heat - and there were no water refill stations in the hotel. This was disappointing and not very sustainable either. The food they served was nice, but again, pricey. €10 for a cheese toastie and some crisps - and there was a €2 cover charge! We made use of a local supermarket which was walking distance away and saved a lot! The room had a fridge too which made that perfect.||Overall|We will 100% re-visit this hotel - although will request a room on the other side of the hotel. It really was fantastic and the staff and...
Read moreFantastic hotel, can't say enough, surpassed my expectations. On arrival hotel is lovelly and clean, wonderful garden area that surrounds the hotel with attached large pool area and tennis courts. Very large reception. Staff are really friendly and although sometimes a language barrier exists, they always try 100% to help you. Rooms were large, we had the jnr suite, very comfortable beds with 2 walk in wardrobes to store your cases and clothes. My daughter stayed in the living space on massive sofa bed which was very comfortable, we had our own separate room. Pool area was great, can't complain. Mixture of adults and children, but never too busy that you couldn't swim. I wish they would have played a little light music round the pool to give it a little bit of atmosphere . Pool side bar and restaurant was a good standard, we ate there 3 times, staff always willing to look after you. However I wish the waiters would have walked round to the pool more and asked to take drinks orders. Although you could order from an app, it wasn't the same. Prefer the waiters to walk round every now and agian. The hotel offers free bikes (there are about 100) which we used all the time, a brilliant addition! We biked as far as Viareggio (25 minutes each way) and in the opposite direction Forte Dei Marmi (a good solid 30 minutes each way). Very plesant ride, completely flat so no problem. You will pass hundreds of beach bars and shops in either direction, feel free to stop off for a drink. On the theme of Beach bars/restaurants there are hundreds and hundreds! We visited a couple, but the best for me is literally opposite the hotel, Patrizia. Lovelly beach restaurant, in fact some of the best food we had in Italy, very clean, lovelly place to relax. Highly recomemd booking restaurant for lunch. We only ate once in the hotel on a Tuesday when they have a bbq night, which I thought was very good! Great idea, with a live singer to entertain. We also visited Pietrasanta which is a beautiful itallian small town, with outstanding restaurants, shops and bars, an absolute must visit. We used taxis to get there but then realised outside of the hotel there is a bus for 2 euros that takes you to Pietrasanta, and also Forte Dei Marmi, no more than 8 minutes travel time. Definitely use the bus! I would certainly return to this hotel and can not wait...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Tuscany, and we wanted to relax at the beach after dealing with the heat and crowds of Florence. I had never heard of this brand but I stumbled across it on Google maps. Lido di Camaiore seemed like a good middle ground between overpriced Forte dei Marmi and older, less luxurious Viareggio.||Versilia met our needs of a 2 bedroom family suite, nice pool, close to beach, and more modern building. The room was spacious and had comfortable beds. Nice balcony to relax. Nice kitchen where we could snack and keep food and drinks cold in the fridge. ||The staff were wonderful - very warm, professional, and attentive. It was easy to keep in touch with email and WhatsApp. Benedetta, Marta, Matteo, and others helped us with our questions and setting up transport to Pisa tower and airport. The restaurant staff remembers your preferences and delivered great service. My family all thought the included breakfast buffet was delicious. The rooftop dinner restaurant had nice sunset views and the food was good, though more expensive than Florence. ||The beach is so nice, with soft warm sand like the tropics. The water in June felt like bathtub warm, and it is shallow for a while so even small kids can splash around safely. The beach had a very nice vibe too, with everyone in good spirits, well mannered, and relaxed. You can get 10% hotel discount for umbrellas or cabanas at some nearby bagnos. It was easy to go back and forth from beach to cafe to pool to hotel room and back. ||The wellness center and indoor pool were nice when it was too hot outside. You can borrow bicycles to go around, and I went to the supermarket 1 km away. The rooms had umbrellas for the rain and it also helped when the sun was so strong. The outdoor pool was big and heated too. The grounds are pretty and feel very resort like. I was basically pleased with everything!||We would like to return and stay longer, to see La Spezia and Lucca too. Grazie for a perfect vacation,...
