The breakfast and breakfast team member on the Thursday morning was excellent. He happily offered espresso/cappuccino coffees and fresh eggs and bacon. And brought over extra food for me to try even though it was a plentiful buffet. On the Friday there was no offer of hot food, the meats had disappeared, the two staff just wanted to pack up when I arrived at 9.15am. Breakfast is meant to be available until 10.30am. ||||I enjoyed the pool which was 58 degrees. It’s €10 per swim on top of your accommodation. There isn’t a cold plunge pool. Just one small waterfall (outside and nothing like the grotto on the website) that’s even hotter than the pool and a very small hydro pool/spa if you pay an extra €2. Some rude guests at the pool thought it was ok to smoke and blow it on guests from directly behind your lounge chair, nowhere near theirs, even though there was plenty of room to move to where guests were NOT sitting. Same couple - the guy sneezed non stop then wiped his snot on the pool noodles and blew it out onto a lounge. Disgusting! 90% of pool guests had manners. The serious swimmers wearing flippers, googles, cap should have a separated area to do laps or they just crash into the hotel guests relaxing. Lifeguards didn’t stop it. I would suggest locals have access for swimming training very early in the morning perhaps as a solution rather than promoting this as a hotel spa and pool and then having lap swimmers wrecking everyone’s day. ||||Nothing was explained at the hotel check-in (or pool area) like the pool rope or where hotel guests can go or where you’ll receive your prebooked treatment. Opening hours of the restaurants aren’t printed anywhere, nor told to you. The wifi info isn’t given out or in your room, you need to visit reception again to ask for that. ||||My room was comfortable and clean except for the shower base which was full of dirty feet marks. ||||The website said there were three restaurants to choose from. Two of them have the exact same menu. There was one open for dinner. Only two vegetarian meal options appear so anyone staying for more than one lunch and one dinner as I did, will have to repeat the food. A small pasta was €19 and you pay €2.50 for service on top of that. A bottle of water is €2.50. You’re in the middle of nowhere so you have to eat here. At the place open for lunch on the public pool side, you cannot put food / drink to your room number so take cash. No English menu. Tip: the Nachos are not nachos - a bowl of chicken in bottled sauce with a few crisps. They refuse to give you tap water, which at a spring, is odd. ||||A couple of coat hangers that can be removed from the cupboard would be welcome as you’re constantly trying to dry bathers, robe and towels and there aren’t enough hooks or places to hang them. They didn’t dry overnight so were still soaking for day two. ||||I paid €289 for two nights in a single room plus €20 for the pool use, booked two months before arrival. When I looked at the website the day before arriving for some info, as the check-in time appeared nowhere in our communications, I could have paid just €176 for a bigger and better room for two nights so perhaps leave booking until the last minute. ||||The wifi was terrible and I had to re-sign in multiple times and it would just stop working. Even when signed in, loading a simple email wasn’t possible due to the weak signal. ||||I booked a 50 minute facial and massage that was expected to be €70. At the spa no one spoke English. They had me booked in for what translated to be ‘new face and body’. This was a full body scrub, quick face wash, not facial, then oil body rub, I wouldn’t call it a massage at all. It was €59.90 at hotel check-out so it wasn’t what I had booked but as their internet was so terrible I couldn’t show them the email. ||||The staff speak very limited or no English so have Translate ready and hope their internet is working or you have a sim that...
Read moreThe experience is beyond disappointing. Some staff do a good job but what you get and what you pay for is absolutely ridiculous. The dinner service depends on who is working. The pool looks green 2 days after the cleaning. The Grotto smells like piss. When we checked in no one explained to us the rules, the hours, or the time schedule of each bar and restaurant. If you are on half board you get a very limited menu, which is fine but we were here for 12 days. The lack of care to the well being of guess is repulsive. Is you come here for a few days... maybe you can enjoy yourself... they have only 2 bikes to use and they must be reserved BUT they are rusty with bad gear and rusty breaks, we had a hard time using them. The Bus is a better option which one reception staff told us is not available only taxi even though that was not the case. We stayed at Fonteverde and Grotto Gusti which offer a way better experience for the price. During our stay they closed the Grotto for cleaning for 2 days, since we bought a spa package it was hard to get credit issued to the room for those days. The last night at the hotel we didn't even get dinner service as the servers were, completely incompetent, they overwork the good staff and hire untrained ones to underpay them. This is my second time visiting the terme and first time staying at the hotel. It will be my last, and my families too. They save money on everything they can. The air-conditioning is lacking and only works if you book a suite. There is mold in the bathrooms and there are ants everywhere. This is a public pool with an attached hotel that lost the potential...
Read moreWe booked the smallest room with Tariffa Terme dei Papi Comfort rate which was expensive (400€ per just one night) and and not even a bottle of water in the room for free. The hydro sound pool was not included and they didn’t inform us when we booked it and it was another extra 12,5€ per person just for 20 min. The location of the hotel obviously is amazing cause you can go in and out from the big outdoor thermal pool easily, but the structure is old and expensive for what they offer. The dinner included in half board was very basic, plus some of the main course u have to pay 10€ more if you wanted. I choose at the end a simple beef tartare, which came in a plate which just the meat not even some green like leaf or something like that underneath, just the meat. The treatments were nothing special, my husband got the oil Massage but was regular. Since was our anniversary they offer us a aperitivo which was nice. Overall the experience was good but...
