Matsushima-kaku — Hotel in Aizuwakamatsu

The Ryokan room was very impressive! It was huge and not even at home we have a bed that large! You also have a wooden bathtub on the balcony with perfect view of the river. Especially in the evening, when it is dark, it is an amazing place to relax!

The view in general is breathtaking, with the river going right by your room. The pleasant sound of it really helps you to relax and fall asleep. The hotel on the inside is very beautiful.

You can also rent a private onsen, but to get a good one at a decent time you should try to book it in advance. However if you are not picky you can also get one spontaneously.

The food was amazing, so many delicious local dishes in multi course menus! My only complaint is, that it was too much.

One thing that was weird, is that housekeeping seems to let your door open when they're done, so be careful with your valuables. However there are cameras outside of the rooms, so we were more surprised then actually afraid of loosing something. Actually the opposite, we forgot something valuable in a public area and it was returned to the reception and handed back to us.

We had a lovely and relaxing stay at Matsushima-kaku's Mizu-no-ma room. Although it was hard to communicate with the staff members in English, they tried their best and we were able to communicate in basic means. The only thing that left a bad first impression was the lack of room feature introduction, so we had to figure things out on our own.

We stayed 2 nights and had 2 dinner courses and 2 breakfast courses. All of the dishes were delicious, though rather large on portion sizes. The sake selection was good as well and we were able to try many local varieties.

We enjoyed our in-room onsen and the view was great. The TV had internet access so we were also able to enjoy Netflix and Youtube in the room to relax.

Overall, it was a good stay at Matsushima-kaku in our recent visit to Fukushima. Keep up the good work and hopefully we will visit again...

We really enjoyed our stay with our parents and siblings for celebrating our marriage. The staff was very helpful and kind. They provided service carefully.
